It's that time of year again. This is an interest feeler as I'm not sure what day will work this year, if any.

The plan would be to do something like last year's ride here and take advantage of the late light:
http://risingsun4x4club.org/forum2/showthread.php?t=19783

Meeting at the intersection of Rampart Range Road and Jackson Creek Road. 6.4 miles south of the intersection of Hwy 67 and Rampart Range Road.

Map of the area:

Official RRMMC maps are available to purchase at locations listed on this page:

Anybody interested?

Yes, rampart is pretty much all 48" width and less. There are a couple single tracks. If you have a plate that can sometimes come in handy because without one you are not supposed to be riding on rampart range road.

I think we can make a good loop of it from the Rampart north Trailhead (right off Hwy 67) and not bother with driving on the road down to Flat Rocks or Garber etc. It's pretty dusty and washboarded right now, which isn't abnormal for this time of year. So unless someone has a strong opinion otherwise, I'm changing this to meeting at the Rampart North TH, right off Hwy 67.

Tentatively thinking south on 787 Power Bar, 673 Bar/674 Flatrock, crossing east at Flat Rocks over RRR to 682 Overlook, east on 686 Garber, south on 685 Tomahawk or something like that. Should be a good couple of hours.

There is new singletrack that just opened though down by Flat Rocks, apparently beginners need not apply. Might be fun depending on riding abilities of everyone coming. That'll be a game time decision.

Yeah I know it's a tough one to get out of work early and such. Sure was fun 2 years ago though! I think we're going to avoid Scotty's Rock this year...

Had a great time last night, 5 of us rode from about 5:45 to 8. A storm came through and rained and hailed for a little bit, just enough to knock the dust down and cool things off.

Checked out the brand new single track they just opened last Sunday, got about 1/2 way down it before turning around.

Just great to get out and get some mental health riding in. Stay tuned for hopefully another 1 or 2 before the light retreats.

Bump for 2016.

Tuesday, June 21. Ready to ride at 5pm, could maybe push to 5:30 start time if we have to.

If anyone has a spare bike, I may be looking to borrow it.

Thinking cross at Flat Rocks to east side of RRR, do 682A Overlook, south on 682 Overlook, south on 646 Arrowhead, south on 681 Scotty's, 679A Dutch Fred, 627 Beginner, cross to west side of RRR to north 675 Cabin Ridge, 653 Roi Tan singletrack, finish on 674 Flatrock. Takes a little over 2 hours depending on group size.

I have to cancel this ride. Sorry to those who may have been planning on it.

EDIT: In 2017 I got up there with my dad, we did Tomahawk to 681, 679a, 675, 770, 657, 675 again, 653, 674, 673 to Flat Rocks, 682, 683 to a downed tree. Raced up 682 to 646 to the TH to get my chainsaw and raced back down and took care of the tree. And found another one. Then back up 682 to 646 to the TH. Started at maybe 4:30 and finished at 8:45. So 4 hours  somewhere between 30 and 40 miles, plus the saws and cycles exercise. It was fun! :thumb:
