Yea, that’s a tough one with any shop, and especially in the case of service work that is so involved. It’s tough to provide guarantees on parts you don’t normally sell or service.
And in complete honesty it's not just aftermarket 4WD work. I bought a clutch kit for our Jetta with the intention of doing it someday, which never came. A couple of shops declined doing the job if I supplied the parts (it was a decent OEM Sachs kit) before one would but with the caveat that they'd only warranty their labor for 30 days. That's fine and actually more than I expected. As far as I was concerned as long as it drove home and nothing was obviously done wrong I would have been no worse off than had I done it myself. But I'm sure I'm in the minority understanding that.

Zuk's website says he's not doing mail-in/out gear installs anymore.

I think worst case I'll work with @Burt88 to get the install done if I can't find something reasonable on my end. I wish I had the tools to do this but diffs require some specialized stuff I've never seen a need for, and this is not the kind of job you want to mess up at all.

I have a buddy with a shop who would do this job for me and just charge me straight time for the work....but it's a very long drive back to Florida!

FYI I've scheduled an appointment with Colorado Gear and Axle to get this done. The estimate for the rear axle rebuild + elocker install was just shy of $1k which is actually a bit less than I was expecting.

Hopefully folks don't come out of the woodwork now saying that place is awful! =o

I'll be doing the switch/wiring/relay myself so that cost is just the mechanical part of the install.
