Hey all! We came up to Denver for the weekend with the family and looking forward to Red Rocks tonight! Anything that is a not miss for Denver?

We came up the boring I25 on the way up and want to take the scenic route back home to the Springs. Highway or mostly pavement only please. The FIL is a not a fan of intense off road trails and im sure the mtn passes with crumbling rocks off a mountain woukd ruin my cruiser seats.

Thanks!
Josh

scenic route

I use Parker Road/Route 83 from south Aurora to Manitou Springs. Just south of the town of Parker you will drive past Castlewood Canyon State Park. Have fun at Red Rocks.

Take Hwy 85 to Sedalia and then Perry Park Road (105) south. Great 2-lane highway.

285

How about 285 to Pine Junction, hang a left and to the Springs through Manitou. Only adds an hour and a half or so to the drive... :thumb:

This looks great! So turn on co rd 126 through deckers to 67 into woodland park right?
Anything along the way to stop and admire like historic or natural sites?

not unless you count the South Platte Hotel :D

It follows the South Platte River for quite a ways, which is really pretty. And you can stop and take a dip in the water :thumb: It's a fairly well graded dirt/gravel road for a ways by the river, but then turns to pavement as you get closer to Deckers.

Rampart Range Road is a dirt road that can be a little rough in spots (mostly washboard), and is long.

Thanks for the suggestions guys. We had a great drive down 285 through fairplay and over Kenosha Pass. We went a little out of the way but it was worth it. Finally turned west on 77 at johnson traveling by Tarryall res. It was really peaceful but the skeeters were vicious! Even with the windows down going slowly they were flying in the windows.
