Just saw this:

(AP) DENVER Groups, hunters and anglers are gearing up for the third hearing of a state task force, which is considering the fate of more than 4 million acres of roadless areas in national forests.

The task force will meet Friday afternoon, and a public hearing will follow at 5 p.m. at the Pueblo Convention Center.

Members of Trout Unlimited and other groups and business owners have called on the task force and Governor Owens to maintain the roadless areas.

They said they're important wildlife habitat and contain crucial watersheds. They also note hunting and fishing generates hundreds of millions of dollars for Colorado's economy every year.

Others worry that leaving the areas roadless will limit public access.

The Legislature created the task force, which will recommend to Owens what should be done with the roadless areas.

The Clinton administration banned roadbuilding and other activities on about 58 million acres of forest land nationwide.

A new Bush administration rule opens that land to development , unless governors petition to protect some or all the sites.
