Something to keep an eye on to see when the Divide Road gate opens.

http://blog.mesacounty.us/2019/05/uncompahgre-closed-at-forest-service.html

"For road safety reasons, the Uncompahgre National Forest is closed at the Forest Service gate at the top of Divide Road due to continued periods of freeze and melt, which have caused contraction and expansion of the ground which is not suitable for motorists. Travel in muddy conditions creates deep ruts that damage roads and trails. Please respect gates and closed areas and find alternate locations to recreate to allow muddy roads and trails time to dry out.

Divide Forks Campground is still under snow as is Uranium Road.

Additionally, 6.3 Road, also known as the Niche Road, is closed due to multiple rock slides. The road is not expected to reopen until mid to late July."

Yeah we changed our plans. Instead we did lockhart from the south only to get turned back by the obstacle at the very end. Rimrocker is way more my style. Maybe next year...

So my wife and I were talking. I'm going to talk with Katie (from Rimrocker trail website in montrose) and see what she says the conditions are since she was on the trail this last week. If it looks like we won't get very far than we may change our plans.

What do you guys think of doing "The Maze" in Canyonlands national park instead? As of right now this is just a idea I want to put a feeler out for. Let me know.

Need to know pretty fast as there are reservations open as of right now in the Maze and we can reserve. If the original people are interested @DaveInDenver , and @Mendocino let me know.

We did the Maze in April. I got the permit last December for that. You should call the backcountry reseveration office on the phone and ask if they have last minute cancellations for your dates. Unlikely but with the rain it's possible. But it's also possible the Maze is muddy mess right now, too. Moab got over an inch of rain earlier this week.

BTW, I'm not in for Rimrocker. My truck is broken, I ripped apart a lower control arm bushing at Cruise Moab. Until I get a line item on the budget approved Donna The Taco is on light desk duty - City Market runs only!

You can reserve camp spots online and almost everything is open.

Totally understand needing light duty on your 🌮. I think we’ll make reservations today. I think we will officially move Rim Rocker to July.

Have you done White Rim? How many days does it really take?
I've done White Rim several times, driving and riding the bike. It can be driven (or ridden on a bike in fact) in a day, depends on if you want to stop and see anything. I would suggest at least one overnight half way 'round though.

I am out. As Dave mentioned, we did the Maze in April. I would love to go back but would want a minimum of three nights in the Maze (preferably 4) and I don't have that much time at the end of this month.

I am planning on doing White Rim in September, but the dates are not finalized. I would expect at least two or three nights comping on the White Rim Trail when we do go.

There is a good chance we will go with you back in September. I’ll talk with Katie with RimRocker, if the news is like we think it will be, we will move our visit to Rim Rocker to July.

Not that it is but, you know, if you *really* feel that way a generous donation to the Lower Control Arm Bushing And Hardware Adoption Fund is not tax deductible and would secure an unworthy continued delinquency, thereby assuaging some (albeit very little) guilt.

Nah, I've been putting off replacing 11 year old bushings for a while, they were probably due months ago for all I know. There's been an intermittent clunk that I never really diagnosed, won't surprise me if I find nothing but dust in the bushing when I pull it apart.

You what stings is Toyota's parts prices.

Damn Dave! You got a dent and had undercarriage carnage?!?!? That will surely be the last time you'll let me talk you into something...

Carnage is a great overstatement. It looks like LCA bushings were due and at least one looks torn and is clunking.
Well that makes me feel a little better. As far as the dent goes, chicks dig scars.
