Thanks Steve for posting the max tire size. I called Centerline to see what was up with this. And the explaination was that the bead locking thickness is based on a 35 inch tire(but I could not get a thickness or what tire company this was based on). Any how I think this to be a bit ambigous. So they made a specific size of tire as the max size for warranty purposes. Now you could mount a tire that was bigger as the rim can support this, but the bead lock area could be stress because the bead is thicker. This could also be the case if you have a bead protector on the 35 inch tire and it is lower than the bead lock as well. There is not plans currently on make the bead lock area a bit thicker to take a 37 or bigger tire. I was thinking of mounting a 36-37 inch tire on this rim. I guess I will look at bead thickness and measure the thickness of the rim as well.
Or look at the hutchenson Rim. I did look at the web site and it really does not show that much info on the rim, if it is DOT approved or not and the sizes of the rims and such. They do look Beefy. Tree do you have any specs on the rims you could share?
Catch you later Robbie

I ordered the Hutchinson rims. They have to be ordered to match the bead thickness of the tire you plan to run. The internal rubber insert has to be custom to seat both the inner and outer bead correctly. This insert is the beadlock. They are a 17" rim. The tires I ordered are the Toyo Open Country MT in a 35x12.5x17.

Thanks for the info. I looked at the web sites, a bit of a heavy rim, either 45 or 53 lbs depending on the model. But the internal bead lock is cool, that it will lock both beads not just one and it is DOT compliant as well.

The Staun internals also fit both of those criteria and weigh a whole bunch less!

Worked on installing the AO drawer system at lunch today. The people I work with think I am crazy.

Those rims are heavy and so are the Toyo tires. I was concerned about it but darn they are cool.:p:

I have been calling around as well as looking on line. Best price so far on the Toyo Open Country 35x12.5.17 is Jim Paris at 294 each.

"Toyo Tire to Raise Prices by Up to 60 Pct in N. America

Osaka, Feb 7, 2008 (Jiji Press) - Toyo Tire & Rubber Co. said it will raise the prices of automotive tires for the North American market by up to 60 pct on March 1 due to rising raw materials and fuel prices.

The Osaka-based company will increase the prices of tires for passenger cars, light trucks, larger trucks and buses that are sold through a sales subsidiary in North America."

Good luck selling tires at that price. That's 470 ea. when they wear out. Toyo will then be the most expensive 35 I've seen. Hope its the best.

Get your grill done. The truck looks homeless without it.

Mike...

$301.70 from here --> http://www.unsertire.com/

Free shipping and I assume no tax. Some guy on MUD posted up about this place so I book marked it. Not sure if the $294 ea you listed is out the door or not.

Yes :D - Are these the same ones that are advertised over on MUD? - I asked about those and got some responses here but I don't know enough about alternators to make a very informed opinion. Bill posted up in the thread in MUD asking some specific questions but I don't believe there was ever a response.

I would be leerly of a stock cased rebuilt with that much advertised increase in output! The question is HOW! If it's just a bigger rectifier set and a smaller pulley then you will have one hot little puppy that I wouldn't count on! If it has a rewound armature in addition to higher duty cycle rectifier set and some way to increase air flow then I would say its a great deal!
