Hey Rising Sunners'

Just a heads up, you may or may not have heard through your chapter delegates that the TLCA is working on a proposal for a Mid-Central States TLCA Open Event. We are looking at October 14th-18th 2009 for this.

The Basics:

2 Parks (1800+ Acres) (Flat Nasty and SMORR)
5 Days
2 Raffles/Dinners (one at each park on Friday or Saturday night, leaning towards Friday)
And many other family activities (Branson, MO is 30 miles from one of the parks, canoeing, kayaking, horseback riding, etc.)

Hopefully we can get this approved and start advertising here in the next few weeks.

We may need to tap the brain trust you all have with running your Cruise Moab event.

One of the driving reasons for this is to see if we can't get a mid-central states event going, maybe every other year to compliment the larger (100+ rigs) TLCA events.

If you have any questions, please don't hesitate to ask.

Thanks All!

Not familiar with SMORR

I have run Flat Nasty, have they cut down a few more trees to make it 80 friendly?

Revised Proposal

Proposed TLCA Mid-Central Chapters Open Event for 2009

Several members of Tornado Alley Cruisers, Tall Corn Cruisers, Green Country Cruisers and Cottonland Cruisers have met and developed an idea for a collaborative Mid-Central States TLCA Open Event for Fall of 2009.

* We are proposing that the event be held the last W-Su of September or the first W-Su in October. This event could be held every other year, with the normal chapter events being held on even years.
* We are proposing that this event be held at SMORR (Southern Missouri Off Road Ranch) in 2009. This event could be held at other parks in the area (Flat Nasty, Hannibal Rocks, D-Day, Superlift, etc), should the event be done again.
* We are proposing that the clubs join forces to form the event committee and sub-committees thus evening the load of putting on such a large event.
* We are proposing that we do not limit what Toyota based clubs can be involved, we would like to see TTORA and FJC Clubs participating in this event as well.
* We are proposing that the TLCA help us facilitate and coordinate our efforts in developing and promoting this event.
* We are proposing that we make an effort to do some philanthropic project at or before the event as a group.
* We are propsing that we market this as best we can, being inclusive in our efforts to reach not only the hardcore wheelers, but the folks that are new to this sport/hobby and even those that just want to come out and see what it's like and not necessarily wheel.
* We are proposing that TLCA members would get a discount for early registration for this event.
* We are proposing that part of the proceeds from the T-Shirt sales will be distributed between the Blue Ribbon Coalition and the Susan G. Koman Foundation
* We are proposing that this is going to be a great event, that will not only bring our chapters together, but bring families together for a great weekend of TLCA fun!

Please take the time to discuss this with your clubs. If you have any questions, there is a thread http://forum.ih8mud.com/tlca-discuss...ml#post3869018 open for discussion. If your chapter is interested in participating in this, please contact Art Schramm packman73 @ gmail.com to be added to the event mailing list. We will working on this collaboratively online through the mailing list. We would like to get rolling on the marketing of this in the next few weeks, with registration beginning the first of the year.

Our goal here is simple. Bring together those that love their Toyota 4x4's for the common purpose of having family fun and enjoying each other's company.

With Kind Regards,

The only issue I see is the dates. Not many families will be able to attend as that is a busy time for school kids/teachers. This event will be a great addition to the TLCA lineup and it sounds like it will be a "must do"!

I'd rather see all proceeds going to land use. susan g kohlman is a respectable foundation, but many people/associations/businesses contribute to that one. not enough contribute to land use, otherwise we wouldn't be losing trails.

although, i guess they probably don't have public land out there to fight for.

The reasoning behind the date/timeframe was as follows.

That area of the country is prone to bad storms (read tornados) during the spring.
Cruise Moab-April/May
Rubithon-June
GSMTR-June
FJ Summit-July
BHCC-July
TTORA Takeover-July/August

Then most of the Mid-Central States chapter events are in late August/Sept/October.

So we really didn't want to step on toes...least that was my thinking on it. And that way, some of you folks from CO can come over if you still have vacation time... :)

The thinking on those two choices was BRC (Cause Greg is a TLCA'er and is doing a lot with the BRC for land use) and as far as Susan G. Koman, it's always nice to see wives/girlfriends/dates/woman/daughters/grandma's out on the trail!
I know my wife and daughter (on the way) would prefer to come with me when I go wheelin, and in my opinion it makes it more "family friendly". I know I don't speak for everyone on this, so if I stepped on any toes, my apologies, not trying to offend anyone.

And none of this is set in stone by any means. So if anyone has suggestions for other charities we can look at, post em up!

Thanks Ige!
