Hard Core 4+
Background: Warn 8000M winch, bought used. The winch controls are backwards. Down = out up=in. Additional note: Under high loads, winch brake does not work and cable backs out.
Eh, no big deal, I just have to remember my controls are backwards. No problem, got some Polack in me.
So I'm about to wind up new winch rope, and I'm thinking, hey, I might have that old cable on BACKWARDS! Warn says I should follow the decal on the drum. (yeah right, a sticker still on the drum?) I look at some pics on the ol' information superhighway and see:
http://www.winchline.com/drum_attachment.htm
Sure enough, bottom load and now my winch is like 99% of everyone elses.
Down = in and up = out. Just like the picture on the remote.
I bet it works a lot faster/stronger now. duh!
Good thing I've only used it 4x in 6 years.
ZEPP go check your cable wrap direction! It might be that easy.
