No can do this year...:(...To ya going...:beer2: Have a GREAT time! :D

Bummer Dave:(. You will be missed! I mean, who's going to watch over us after a rambunctious night on the town? To quote Dave one morning: "Um guys, any reason that there's a _______ laying in camp?":lmao:

FWIW, I'm in on the trip.

And I'm around most of this weekend if you guys get together. I'm making a run or two into town tomorrow to get parts from Jim, and probably some hay bales.

Dan

Cool, thanks for the heads up. Working on the truck today but will be around tomorrow.

Outlaws, with the run getting closer wanted to put up what I have for folks going:

Perry Loughridge
Daniel Markofsky
Shawn Cardinal
Matt Farr
Daniel Linn
Marco Capote
James Krieger
Sean Boland
Rachel May
Kurt Williams
Jonathan Harris
Dan S

There's still a few on the maybe list so post up if that's you;).

Dates are October 4-12th. I'm planning that we meet up in Folsom New Mexico at noon on Saturday the 4th. There's a museum in town that looks interesting. This should leave enough time to check it out. The drive to Folsom from Denver is about 4hrs, depending on the route you take.

Getting excited for this years run!

Perry, do you have a rough day to day itinerary in mind?

Kurt,

Yes I do have a rough plan laid out. Will post up tonight. The basic plan is to be in Chama NM by Wed. That day is planned to ride the Narrow Gauge.

This: http://cumbrestoltec.com should be spectacular. We are not allowed to rob it.

Perry - meet Friday after work or this weekend with the maps?

Yay for me writing things down. :eek:Old age.

Saturday October 4th: Meet up in Folsom NM. Camp close to Wagon Mound. So far a no go for exploring family ranch.

Sunday: Ft. Union, Quintana Pass-Taos. Camp in Rio Grande Gorge.

Monday: Taos to Chama. Dirt roads.

Tuesday. Train ride from Chama. Full day event.

Wed: Leave NM. Stunner Pass to Wheeler Geological area.

Thursday: Cinnamon Pass-Silverton. Ophir Pass to Telluride.

This: http://cumbrestoltec.com should be spectacular. We are not allowed to rob it.

Perry - meet Friday after work or this weekend with the maps?

In Seattle.

Friday/Saturday in the San Juan's and everyone burns home Sunday?

Yes, what I put up was an old agenda, before I changed some of the route, like not ending in Moab. The end plan is to hang out in Telluride area, check out the robbery site of Butch Cassidy, Matt Warner, and just enjoy the area.

Train Ride Info...

OK, after talking with Perry about the train trip portion of the trip....

The easiest way to get seats in the same car is for you to call the C&TS, and add to my reservation.

Cumbres & Toltec Scenic RR: (888)286-2737
Reservation #: 1185773

That is for #1 Antonito to Chama by Bus; Return/Train. On Wednesday, October 8.

Total cost per person will be $103.95 (includes lunch in Osier).

It'll be a pretty early morning (we will take a bus at 8:30AM from Antonito), but we will get to ride the train up Cumbres Pass (and it appears that it will be a double headed train out of Chama, which is a marvel in mechanized travel in it's own right), have lunch at Osier, and then ride the train out to Antonito. This will let us see the whole line, and all of it's scenery (it's pretty varied along the line), getting back to our trucks just before 5PM in Antonito.

Seats on the train will likely start selling out soon, as word of the Aspens turning gets out, so the sooner we book the better. If they get enough bookings, the railroad historically adds cars to the train, and if we are REALLY lucky maybe they will make it long enough to require three locomotives. It's been quite a while since they needed 3 locomotives to pull the train up the pass, but it would be incredibly awesome if that were to happen for our ride.

Dan, thanks a bunch for getting this taken care of!

Just to give everyone a heads up, the train ride is planned for Wed October 8th. As Dan stated, it will be an all day event. Every one that wants to, please get on the reservation list. Should be an awesome day, and word on the street is that night, the 8th, there is a full lunar eclipse:cool:.

I edited my original post to make the date more clear, in case anyone was unclear on it.

...just in case anyone needs to get pumped for a train ride....

Aside from packing it up, the 60 is ready to go already. This is going to be fun on the bun!

Yay! I just overhauled the rear axle (started with just bearings but did discs, pads, shoes and calipers) and replaced the front calipers and pads. I'll be replacing all the bushings I can do without a press ths weekend, and shopping and packing.

Hope to see :perry: Perry for a final route review too.

If you guys could, please post up when you've called in and gotten on the reservation. Want to have an idea of who will be doing the train ride on the 8th of October.
