Spent last week down in Telluride visiting with family, chasing a few photography leads and wheeling a Jeep... I know. I'm sorry but it was all that was available and it seriously made me nervous the entire time.
Lone Cone. Did you know that it is a volcano? There's a fancy name for it as well since the peak is wider than the base but I'm failing to come up with the term.
Last light of day from just below the summit of Bald Mountain.
Totally admitting my faults with this one as I've never tried to photograph the Milky Way. Manually focusing a 35/1.4 in absolute darkness is a bit of a challenge and I missed it by just a hair. Scored with the meteor but I missed the full Perseid show by 1 day.
Here's a better one of the Milky Way over Bald Mountain. Nailed the focus with this one. I need to do more of these.
Sunrise. Looking north at Chicago Peak (on the right), Mt Emma (middle) and Dallas Peak (left). Mears Peak is to the left, out of the frame. Upper 30s at 6am. I'm ready for winter.
Looking south from just below the Bald Mountain summit. From left to right: Lizard Head, Sunshine and Wilson.
It's a funny feeling looking at one of your favorite ski runs and realizing what is actually underneath all that snow. Giant scree field? Who knew?
Taking in the La Sals from the Uncompaghre Plateau. This is a very cool spot and I so badly want another truck so I can explore more of it.
Inside the JK. No further comment.
Black bear sighting near a small stream on the Plateau. I had no idea they would be down in basically a desert landscape. Pretty cool to see.
I have some others I'll share. Made a handful of pretty great panos and tried my hand at photographing some rock climbing. That was fun.
