Parts of the trail have gotten more difficult over the years. The south side of Taylor Pass coming down into Taylor Park especially. Which would add to the length of the day as compared to 12 years ago.

Good to know! Thanks!

Will do! I've already reached out to Mike to ask him to put it on the calendar for next year so it's definitely going to happen. :thumb:

The millers led this an ouray. I took over the TBP and Dave organized ouray.

It can be done. It's fast paced and gotta start early on Time. No newbs with stock truck or spotting except for sree field on italian and the dump into creek on taylor. I made it 33's and locker requirement as people gotta move and you can't keep stopping for little things. the wheelers need to be experienced. more than 8 is fine if you know them personally and their capability(I'd say that goes for all the participants on the run). I will say if you have 1 slow person it will fubar the day. People need to know that and not go if they can't keep up using the skinny pedal.

first or second weekend in aug is best. Pearl isn't usually open til just before then. it has snowed multiple years on pearl and sept is can be too late if it's an early snow year. Safe to keep the 10th or 17th.

I added on On sunday we went back to CB via jacks cabin cutoff and run schofield and lead king back via paradise (DTPB). Other years on sunday we went over to williams pass via tincup/cumberland. Williams is only open in Aug so many people have never done it. it's short and pretty easy but cool. I don't think you can make it to the trail head with the damage on palasades on alpine tunnel

I'll try to lead it next year, or we can go out there and prerun if i can't make that weekend. This year i had to go to carlsbad. seems like work gets in the way...

Radios need to be a requirement: Ham strongly preferred and / or a vehicle mounted CB with a properly tuned antenna. No hand held CBs.

I drove Pearl this past summer and I would add that as a potential gate keeper now. There's a short section that both my Taco (OK, *only* 32s) and the 80 needed spotting to pick through. Just dug up enough that the line is hard to follow without someone watching you.

The Millers used to call the local mountain bike club in Gunnison to see if and when Pearl was open.

Sweet! Due to all of the early interest, I'm going to start another thread to track all of the planning.

Bushducks generally have the info.

That's why that particular weekend was best. It usually didn't open much before that. It depends on the snow year of course. I wouldn't do sept. It's generally too late. It's snowed on us that 2nd weekend in aug
