Hahaha!!! Here's a story: So last summer, we're done with the ground survey of Jenny Creek, right? We'd just dropped the FS off at their truck, good time to air up. So me and Perry both air up using CO2, the SAME CO2 tank mind you.. then look back and Bill's still on tire #3, little compressor chugging away while he's talking to these guys in an old white CJ. "Slightly slower than CO2" may be an understatement here, though a big part of that is the operator.

That's the reason I never bought one. I think i could have pulled out my bike floor pump and beat bill. Maybe bill doesn't mind but it seemed like we were there for 1/2 and hour. I need that time on the road as slow as I am..

Ok, so I'll conclude about 5 min. w\co2 and 15-20min with this little pump. It will be used as a backup only.

You know me, unlike Bill, I'm usually in a hurry to get aired up and back home near the pre-quoted wife time.

Yep, I got mine primarily for backup, in case I run out of CO2. And if the day comes when I'm not in hurry to air up & get going I could always save the CO2 for another time I guess.

Actually, I prefer ale and steak.

and the one thing I don't have is a brake. Almost every other implement of destruction, but no brake. yet. I need more shop/studio space before I get anymore tools.

I learned to carry a spare compressor even with co2. I once limped about 40 miles on 10psi, on the highway, in vernal. ick

I would say... that would be a Scotty from Star Trek estimate. Should cover any and all situations. I NEVER was able to get aired up in 5 minutes with my CO2 tank, and don't seem to recall taking 20 minutes with my dual compressor setup. I would say for me, 10 minutes CO2, 12-14 minutes dual compressors.

Single compressor, yeah, you're about right on the 20 minutes. And on a hot day with the compressor in the sun or under the hood (even when open), you'll trip the thermal breaker on tire #3. 'Course, the Chili mill pumps out some BTUs, YMMV. I do not experience this with two compressors with the hood open.

'Course, I've run out of CO2 a few times at about that point, too many times. CO2 and the compressor makes an MRS (Morgan-Redundant-Systems) compliant configuration. I just got tired of having a near-useless ARB compressor, AND a CO2 bottle. I didn't want to go the other way and possibly lose lockers AND air-up capability with a single failure, so I went with dual compressors - for $50 plus wiring plus hoses, clamps, connectors, and relays. This way I get redundancy but no bottle taking up interior space. I moved my tools and spares into the side panels for the same reason, and got a nice carpeted sidepanel to boot.

It may not comply with Mrs. (Missus) $tandards though.

IIRC I was still leisurely breaking out the hoses when you guys were 1/2 done with one truck. And yeah, I think I got home before you did anywho...

That was what I did for a while until I was confident of my compressor setup. After a while, I got tired of hauling the bottle up and back.

The Chili and I are on a modest weight reduction program. I'm having more success than the Chili is, so the bottle was an easy decision.
