I haven't gotten to the pcv yet. The ground wire is good and there are no stored or pending codes. I'm doing a little research on the brake booster and how it works as it is much different than I am used to.

Would a LX570 have a vacuum brake booster? I'd have thought it would be the electric booster that Toyota uses with TRAC and VSC.

Trey, I'm curious if you can replicate this while it's parked, but pumping the brakes continuously?
I have tried this and it does not cause the issue to happen. When the issue is happening, pressing the brakes appear to be the action that causes the result, but when the issue is not happening you can pump the brakes all you want.

This is my understanding as well. I'm not seeing any vacuum lines from/to the engine, but rather a separate electric booster providing what I'm guessing is vacuum. I'll admit I have like 5% understanding though so I am lacking info at the moment.

Just getting back from a work trip, and we will be running around in another car today so we don't get stalled, but hopefully I'll have time to take this out and see if I can get it to act up again in the near future.

When it was acting up last week I checked the battery voltage while it was running and it appeared that the voltage was around the 12.7 mark meaning no alternator supplied voltage going on, but it jumped back up to 13.7 shortly after so I'm not positive if it was an issue with my voltmeter or if it was actually reading 12.7 for that quick check. That's what I'm currently waiting to check again, but I need time to drive it around and wait for the issue to pop back up to check.

If you have one, I would connect an ultra gauge or similiar obd2 reader to it so you can see the exact voltage number its putting out in real time while driving it.

Or at least see what the ECU thinks the voltage is. This could be a very significant diagnostic step if the ECU is seeing a lot less than what your meter says the battery voltage actually is could lead you to a broken wire, partially seated or corroded plug, bad ground as was mentioned, etc.

Great call on the ultragauge! I do have one and it never dawned on me to be able to use it for this case. Thanks!

So far using the ultragauge and driving around for an hour, the voltage started off around 13.7 and over time is settling around 13.3 with sometimes dipping down to as low as 13.07. Still haven't replicated the problem yet but these reading seem lower than I would have expected from a good alternator.

Been driving this for the last month plus without any repeat of the issue. I did swap the battery with the one I had in another truck and unsure if it was related to that, but so far the truck has been solid.

On another note. Prior to all this happening we were in the process of getting an electric car and got sucked into a lease for $125/mo, $0 down on an Ioniq 5 to save money on gas and have decided to post this truck up for sale. This is our 3rd cruiser and with all the gas bills we've been stacking up we've decide to let this one go and keep the other 2 and the electric car.
