Fins 'N Things today:

We went Rogue on Friday and went to see how far up La Salle Pass we could make it (turns out 9,500 feet) before the snow got too deep and slushy. But I found a scenic stream crossing.

I took LOTS more pictures, but these are the ones that I have already exported (and posted on MUD). Maybe tomorrow night I'll get some more posted (of other people's trucks even!). I drove all the way back to my folks' place in NM tonight so that I could work on my 60 project a bit tomorrow before I have to head to work.

Last two from Elephant Hill.... (and a little love for the FJCs and Taco). On Thursday when we ran Elephant Hill, only 3 of 10 trucks were not simply leaf sprung (25, 40, 45 or 60 series).

Also, 3 of 10 rear axles were Full Float Rear Axles.

That's it from me. I'm off to go work on my 60 now....

John vs Subaru on Onion Creek. We were able to reach the group on Kokapelli via 146.460. Only minor injuries but left us all a bit unnerved the rest of the week.

Glad everyone walked away from that. Now just a story to tell.

Will be spending the next week going through pics and video. Here's one for now. From yesterday mornings photo shoot. Mega Cruisers are .

Sorry guys, the internet at SRCG was the worst ever this year. Yeah yeah I know, get a smartphone to use as a hotspot, but seriously they need to fix their junk. We're paying for it right?

Anyhoo, on Hell's Revenge yesterday we got front row seats to an air evacuation. Dude endo'd his ATV, no helmet of course. So, if they make us sit there for an hour getting his a$$ out, at the least we can drool over the $2M toy they get to play with.

Check out the rocks the pilot put under the skid in the second from bottom picture, so low-tech LOL! I know the last picture looks like the first, but I wanted to get the sense of telling the story from when it landed until when it took off. I took a zillion more pictures, here. Full 24Mp resolution if anyone wants to make a poster. As you might imagine, most of them were more typical Cruise Moab truck-climbs-over-rock type stuff, but the helo evac was pretty unique.

Woody waits to pull cable on Gary Coberly's UZJ45 while stuck in Hell's Gate - He broke something, I heard something about rear links and break out the welder. The winching didn't work and they ended up backing him down to the bottom. Don't know the details other than I saw him driving under his own power at camp this morning, so whatever it was it apparently got fixed.

He told us the 80 broke both front upper control arms and they ended up using a winch on the axle and one on the truck to get it down. Then they pulled the arms and welded them up and were good as new.
