I am the one who is behind here, not Jared. My apologies.
Here is the update on Lefthand –
For the last several months, I’ve been working with our Enterprise Team (GIS specialists) to produce a map that shows pre-post flood conditions. In order to add or remove motorized roads and trails to the system (motor vehicle use map), our regulations currently require an Environmental Analysis. The map that we’re are working will help drive those alternatives that will feed into the Environmental Analysis. The goal is to have this out for public comment and for it to feed into a CPW Planning Grant application this fall. Right now we barely have the capacity to operate and maintain all the recreation programs that we provide, and taking on another planning process is extremely difficult- hence keeping our eyes on the CPW planning grant.
It was my call not to add updates on Lefthand in a monthly meeting. This will likely take us a few more years, and it’s going to move at a much slower pace than any information that we can provide monthly. I intend to keep it out of that meeting.
I apologize that I have not provided this information before. I gave the local club representatives a 30k foot of this before the shutdown, but not sure that I ever shared the powerpoint. If not, maybe I can provide it here in an effort to be transparent with how we are trying to move forward.
At this point, the next step for us will be to finalize the map and prepare to roll out it out with a public meeting in the fall. Once we do get going on this, we’re going to need the support of the OHV community to help carry this to the finish line.
Any club benefactor want to pony up a few million to get this moving lol
