Cleaning out the chicken coop and/or the sheep shed when I was a kid. The $hit was so mashed onto the floor my sister and I had to use scrapers.

Anyone who knows me well, knows that I have a super keen sense of smell. It is more of a curse than a blessing. I'm talking like dog smelling senses...I often wonder whether I was supposed to be born blind or something as my sense of smell is ridiculous.

The rotten flesh smell is one of my worst and I used to have a dog that would find anything dead in the field and roll in it. That gelatinous dead spread on her back was nearly impossible to get off and I would be gagging every time I had to do it. It happened almost monthly as she would go out in the field and find whatever was rotting.

After that, I have a hard time entering anyone's house that has little kids or dogs that have done their messes in there. The smells of the original mess, mixed with whatever they tried to clean/cover it up with is overwhelming to me.

I think our house is in a migration path or something. Stepped on a couple at first and learned my mistake. Then found one in my shoe the hard way, by putting my foot in until I heard a pop. It smelled for weeks. I get a whiff every once and a while in the house and it gives me nightmares of a giant nest in the crawlspace. Usually end up sweeping half a dozen out of the garage if they havent been run over yet, each one releasing their special aroma. Cant. Stand. Them.

I had a side gig as a parking valet in atlanta post college for going out cash. I usually worked at a decent restaurant in buckhead but one night was told to go down to one of the less than primo strip clubs. Worst…cars…ever. Barely ran, smelled like BO and urine baking in 90d heat and of course nobody leaving that place had tip money left but the “dancers”.
