I looked up American Association of Motor Vehicle Administrators on USASpending.gov and they have gotten $125M since 2008 from various government sources. What is with all these so-called "Non-Profit," "Non-Governmental-Organizations" operating exclusively off government cash?

Good update from the Colorado Sun today:

Looks like a similar story to the one posted on the last page. I have two feelings about it. Good that Kei cars as a class would be protected, but it also undermines the current regulatory structure that has been in place for decades for 25-year old and older imports. Sure it can't go more than 60 MPH, but the minimum speed on interstates is 55 MPH. So what's the problem? My concern is that if CO decides to make Kei cars a separate class of vehicles, what's to stop them in the future from putting other vehicles in the same class or making more classes of vehicles? Cars are cars and should all be treated the same. Classic cars were built when the Federally imposed nationwide speed limit was 55 MPH for instance. The 25-year old import rule already takes into account the emissions and safety concerns and they are already granted exemptions from safety testing and emissions. That's the whole point. Take the diesel or Century V12 imports that members have in this club, they weren't safety tested in the USA, they weren't emissions tested etc. Next thing you know CO will decide they can't be driven on the interstate either.
