Before I start the search I figured I'd check here first. Curious if anyone has a spare intake/exhaust manifold laying around for an f-series for a 40....mine is cracked

I may have one too from a 1970. I'd have to check.

I just checked my parts pile, and I have several intakes that would probably work for you, unfortunately no exhaust manifolds, which are are always what cracks in my experience. It looks like your intake is a 69. You are welcome to what I have, free.

That one on mud is a different, older pattern. My '69 looks like this:

The hard part about buying used exhaust manifolds is that they are usually warped, the mating surface has been ground down too much, the heat riser is toast, the studs are broken... When I replaced mine recently it took a couple tries to get a good one that matched my intake well.

Here's what I'm rocking. I'm still not 100% if it's 155 technically
Probably F145, but looks like head has been swapped at some point with a later one with 8 bolt holes for manifolds, so you can use a few different years.

I found that 69-72 works for my 71. I have the '69 "high performance" intake on mine right now with a '72 exhaust. It could be that 73-74 might fit as well, haven't tried personally. Pretty sure '68-early is Siamese intake though. The bolt/studs that hold them together often strip in the soft aluminum intake, but it is straightforward to helicoil them.

I have an exhaust manifold. No cracks. The heat riser door is missing and one of the exhaust bolt holes pipe threads are toast but could be drilled out and thru-bolted. Free to Rising Sun member.

When working, the flap open helps cold running when first starting up by warming the mixture a bit. But yeah, when it doesn't move it can make the intake too hot. I've never seen a cracked intake though, only cracked exhausts. I had a cracked exhaust I was able to repair that lasted a year or two. I took a thin cutting wheel on an air die grinder and cut a little bit into the crack all along it to expose bare metal, then put the exhaust into a hot oven, then welded it up, then back into the oven for a gradual cool down. It's tough to weld cast iron with regular MIG wire though. At the end of the day it's better to just install an intact exhaust.

If you delete the heat riser, Kurt at Cruiser Outfitters has a delete plate.

Best way to keep the heat riser flap from cracking the intake manifold is to … block it off!

Thank you guys I appreciate it! Definitely going to get that plate and try to salvage the old one. Thank you Paul @60ranchero !
