They can claim what they wish, but any modifications can void a warranty at the discretion of the manufacturer and you'll have to fight them over it. There have been cases where using a K&N air filter were grounds for refusing to honor a warranty.

The law protects you from being required to use Denso filters, Toyota parts or dealer labor, IOW you can change your own oil or do your own repairs as long as you follow their recommendations with like-same parts it won't void the warranty. The text of the law say you cannot alter or reconfigure from factory specification.

Cutting wires to install is at best a grey area. It will likely void any claim on failures on the subsystems it impacts. But that would be true if you snipped the fuel pump wire to put in a switch, too. This is why ECU chips plug into the OBD port, it can be undone and doesn't alter the vehicle.

If the Ravelco harness has factory-mating plugs then it's worth the price IMO. Finding actual installation examples and information for it has been difficult for me, so all I know is by inference.

Not that this helps anyone parking outside, but I lock my garage doors every night. Most have a button or switch that disconnects the remote function. You can still open it with your keypad, but if someone breaks in to the car outside, they cannot open the door with the opener. Nor can they use a spoofed opener. I didn’t realize it until people around here had their cars broken into and their garages opened.
