Head Casting Numbers and F155 Questions

My recently aquired 6/73 fj55 has a bad head gasket so I dug into it this weekend. The truck came with a redone head that is casting 60051. The truck has a casting number 60050 head on it that I removed. They apear to be the same. I ordered a felpro head gasket kit through rock auto and the head gasket is slightly different in that it has the tear drop shaped cut out towards the back of the motor. The F155 has the copper tube oiler. My question is can the 60051 be ran(apears to fit) and does it matter that the tear drop shape is there in the head gasket? Thanks!

can't help you there, but i'll give my word of warning. i used a felpro gasket on the nuclearlemons 2f when i blew a gasket after losing the water pump, six months later it blew again. used another felpro. within a year, it blew again. i figured i didn't do a good enough job checking the head with the straightedge and was convinced it was warped but, two friends who each rebuilt motor with felpro gaskets both blew the gaskets within a year. both of them went toyota after that with no issues for years.

felpro is for chevys. we drive toyotas.

From what I have gathered F155 head gasket has been discontinued. Thanks for the info!

i found three numbers for 155 head gaskets
first is metal, it's still listed as available. the second is fiber with metal, and the third i don't know. they are both discontinued.

11115-60031 (03/1969 - 11/1972)
11115-60032 (12/1972 - 08/1973)
11115-60033 (09/1973 - 12/1974)

checking regrind sets, which both are shown to be available, this is what i get
04112-60080 (03/1969 - 08/1973)
04112-60081 (09/1973 - 12/1974)

checking rock auto, they show the same aftermarket head gasket for 69-73 but a different one for 74, so i would avoid the 11115-60033 gasket and either go for the 11115-60031 gasket or the 04112-60080 regrind kit
