Okay, so is the threads on the OEM brake line are messed up. I bent a new line. The new bolt doesn't have that non threaded bit. Is it okay to use that or should I go on a wild goose chase to find the proper fitting?.

I would reuse that fitting, just cut the line and slide it on to the new one. Pretty sure all the brake fittings are metric.

Same. I reuse Toyota fittings all the time. If you're able to flare the tube, then the ends are what I would reuse. Mostly because I am convinced they are better, but also because who wants to have to find an 11mm line wrench for it?!?!

Well, I cannot use one of them because someone at some point in time over torque the one on the soft line side. I got the new ones in metric.

You don't occasionally grab brake line ends from Toyotas at junk yards for just this purpose? Am I the only one? If I had any handy in CO I'd send you a few.

I note that the fittings you pictures look to me to have female flares, whereas the removed fittings have male flares. That probably explains the unthreaded section just prior to the flare.

I couldn't tell you the last time I was in a junk yard.

I ended up going to Pirtek in Denver and they had the fittings and just gave them to me and flared out my home made line for free.

FWIW those non-ABS lines are (or at least were) still available from Toyota and we’re pretty cheap.

I called Stevenson West and they said that that are NLA. That route seemed like the quickest at the time.
