I would like to learn how to hit repeaters to communicate back to Denver from the middle of nowhere. I’ve been using ham to communicate bw trucks on trips, but would be clueless if I actually had to use the radio for more.

It's pretty easy. You program the frequency and offset.

APRS is one thing I wanted to do a class on, perhaps I can get Andy to instruct it. I also was hoping to get unlicensed people and those who have them but no clue into something more organized to walk through operating rather than repeating the same thing several times informally. Yoder should teach emergency communications.

APRS is what got me interested in HAM!
