:ROFLMAO: Who knows really! Honestly it's amazing the difference a little moisture makes. I've been wheeling on the Mesa when the ground was so slick you would literally keep sliding at a dead stop with your foot on the brake and the truck in park. I was just curious since I've only run the gulches in my 100 series about 7 years ago and don't really recall much of it.
Hopefully you know I was being totally serious. ( I know I'm a smart ass more than I'm serious) The traction control on those 200's is just mind boggling! Combine that with the good meats that you and @Mendocino have on your trucks and I really do think they would have made short work of it.

Did anyone have some Maxtrax? I wonder if they could have helped with the extra traction needed on the left line. Of course wheel spin would have to be very carefully modulated, and you'd want something underneath to keep it from deforming too much. Was anyone locked front and rear?
As Nick mentioned we did have two rigs with front and rear lockers. Scott has TOYO M/Ts but still no luck. Max tracks might have done it, or might have gotten spit out the back. Throughout the day we were noticing that the rock there just becomes real slick with a bit of moisture. There was also a muddy groove that kept catching everyone's rears.

A little more discussion on Hackett Rock...

I wish I would have taken more pictures but I think @3rdGen4R has some good footage so maybe he'll post up some videos.

For those of you who haven't ran Hackett Gulch, the pictures online do not do it justice. It's not that it's anything super technical, it's just the right combination of angle, obstacle arrangement and wet conditions made it super challenging to get through. As Brian noted, everyone had to winch up and it must be a common thing as there is a purposed anchor point above the obstacle. (circled in orange)

As we saw it, there were two lines that were attempted and I've noted them (quite professionally I might say) in red and blue. The red line is the first one I attempted. It's hard to tell but the rock on the drivers side goes up is just round enough to drag sliders on and high centering our vehicles. The blue line is at a steeper angle and puts your right drivers tire in a spot to where it just wants to spin in the dirt at the base of the obstacle. Also, it was a good thing I had sliders because I slammed that rock pretty hard with them on one of my attempts. Combine all of this with the wet conditions and none of us had any luck getting up without assistance.

On a lot of vehicles, a diff drop is debatable with a small lift. On some newer trucks it makes things worse. 100’s are notorious for CV drivability issues after being lifted (especially with aftermarket or rebuilt CV’s). If I were to guess I would say that we install diff drops on 99% of the 100’s that we put lifts on.
I am thinking I will be doing a dif drop very soon.

I'll soon have 1-3 take offs to make available for spares, I need to thin the heard, I own 1 100 and 8 CV axles....
Send me a PM if you need and I'll keep you in order as I figure out how many are worthwhile.
(OE only of course for 100CV's)

Put me in line. I would be a lot more relaxed knowing I have one on board. I still need to get that loaner throttle body when we both have a minute, too. :)

Sounds like you had a grand adventure, Nick. Glad to hear you made it home in one piece (pretty much)! (y)

Usually we take a lot of video and pictures, not so much on this trip. Next time I'll do a better job of getting some film of people during the obstacles.

Thank you to everyone that went on this trip. We had a blast! A little bit of rain made this trail fairly tough. This was a fun run and a good introduction to the club for myself.

No, I actually took it off of the Trails Offroad description.

Those are great pictures and an even better video Phillip! Whatever camera that is, it takes fantastic video!

Really glad you came out Dominic and excited to have another great addition to the club!

@Shuksan you need to convince Scott to join as well. He was a lot of fun to be around!

Yeah I will work on him. Group things aren't usually his thing, so coming on this run was a good start for him. He enjoyed it.

If you saw the can of Colorado Native in the video, I can assure you that it wasn't ours. We picked it up before we left that obstacle though as well as some other trash we found along the trail. If you haven't ran trails in that area before, it is my opinion that they have a bit more trash on them than some of the other trails in different parts of the state. It's sad really but we picked up what we could.

As a reminder, alcohol and other similar items are never allowed while driving on a club run. We save all of that for when we get done and are sitting next to the campfire.

Yeah, I was like, WTF?

Nic, I was thinking, "Dang, his ATRAC isn't kicking in" when I was watching the video. Then I realized that your 99 doesn't have it. Would have been interesting to see what a front locker would have done.

My 4runner and Scott's Taco both had front lockers and we didn't get anywhere with it.

I had quite the collection of mud flaps and marker light covers thrown in the back of my rig and I am sure I missed tons. I kinda feel like the closer you get to the cities the worse it gets. See: rampart range road.
