If you didn’t know, Groove on broadway rents Toyotas to anyone….and they price match. I planned a long road trip to mesa verde and decided to check for more fuel efficient options than our dailies. Groove was out of cruisers but I did get a 2025 TRD runner with the imax. I figured it was about as close as I could get to the 250 and less than the govt mileage rate.

So far to Durango, then to MV then back to Durango-26mpg. That’s not bad!
I don’t love the hard plastic interior.
I don’t love the visibility.
I don’t love the engine noises
But…. It’s been a pretty good road tripper. Comfy, plenty of power. Love the rear window. Love running in 2wd though no locking hubs means it’s not entirely that. Now I’m curious to try the non hybrid.

Final mpg was 25.6 which included exploring around silverton at less than full mpg. I zero’d the log and then put about a 1000 miles on this. Not sure why THIS tune isn’t the one in the Land Cruiser. Also note about 100 more miles available at full than my 100 and a smaller tank.

We're looking at renting something from them for our Thanksgiving travels.

Highly recommend. I’d much rather support groove than Avis, and I think their plan worked- I now have a higher opinion of the runner than I did and I’ve told people about it.
