1974 FJ40. She wants to stop when i press brakes. Need parts 79-85 40 or 60 front axle with brakes, birfs, hubs, and knuckles
Willing to accept any advice and correction...

Believe i am fully stock to 1974 on these brakes. Have to do front bearings and seals, put on my longer steel brake hoses, and prolly need to rebuild booster anyway... May as well get new MC and Booster and just get the discs.

My pedal has always been hard as a rock but it softened a little when i put new shoes on rear. ( I had to replace seals and bearings that had leaked into the drums)

I am adjusted correctly. But look how dark that fluid is! 🫠

I don't want to do all that work rebuilding the drums if my wife still won't drive it cuz of crappy stopping.

I'll eventually put a bigger tire, but not ridiculous. She loves her new OME lift kit!!

What say you, oh forum members?

There is a 60 that just showed up at the Denver u-pull and pay that probably has everything you are looking for.

Thanks for the tip! I'll give them a call.
I was just there taking the differentials. I popped the trunion bearings off and slid everything out to get the diffs out. You wouldn’t even have to take it apart. It all looked like it was in really good shape. Bring a pickle fork unless you want the entire steering linkage. The calipers have been claimed by someone before me.

Hey Thanks!
Got em. Brought the wrong pickle fork and had to t run oreilly just to the road.
My knuckle/hub/birf was sitting there for my to just load up.
Found some shims and a few of the nuts for the steering arm/knuckle.
Still thought i was gonna die of heat stroke😁
To get those steering arms off i had to set them up on a tire rim and two hand a brake drum as a hammer. They laughed at my mallet.
Was so hot-and i grew up in fla and Az.

You are right, everything looks great! No rust at all anywhere.

Made 2 quick stops and was home by 7:30pm.

$89 in gas
$75 for axle assy minus diff and housing.
90 mins of sweat (had the wrong tool to start)
Saving $600 on your front disc conversion = priceless😉

They are buried in truck. Will take pics

Awesome!!! Definitely solid looking parts. The differentials are flawless.

I thought I was going to pass out when I was pulling the diffs. I was going to pack all of those parts in the back of the 60 just to keep them out of the weather, but I needed to get to some water badly. It hasn’t rained over here in a long time anyway so I figured they'd be fine. 😂

I’m glad you were able to get what you needed. I’m surprised it was as unmolested as it was. I’m thinking I might head back and get the parking brake cable setup off it. I need to get some of those eldorado calipers since I installed a split case. I lost my parking brake. 🤬😡

Now starting a new thread for the build up.
The only thing i see is some possible scoring on the spindle.
Caked with greasy mud but kept it rust-free seemingly.

I'm stoked about the Aisin hubs, the beefier axles, and HAVING brakes!! lol.
