you won't ever go back if you go manual. The thing is, you can run 0 boost around town, or low psi, and save fuel, run 3psi or so for long flat highway and get better mpg, and dial it up on the hills!

It's the cat's meow...

This is a way different beast than a Porsche though. I would NEVER run 0-1 psi and be miserable when I have boost under the hood. It'll still get (at least from what I hear) 22 mpg. It's kinda like the TDI's or the 760 volvo's. It needs a turbo just to be drivable esp out here. I could see running 7 all the time and controlling it to 10-12 on the passes. That's about it. Those suckers aren't inexpensive. My plan is to drive and see and then maybe adjust the wastegate so I get up to 10 if i'm on the throttle.

all I need is oil. I will be driving tomorrow

Thanks to Jim for helping me cobble together a piece of exhaust for it. It won't be permanent but mucho helpful to get a test run and to the exhaust shop.

We'll I did 65-75 from santa fe up to kipling on c470 and I seemed to still have some power. Man the turbo whistle is schweet. I managed to only finger tighten the oil feed on the block so I managed a full rust proofing underneath. It's a mess.

I still need to tune it, ie adjust the fuel for my new found amount of air. get an exhaust, put the pyro on, add the boost gauge and manual boost controller.

remember to go heavier on the fuel than you think at first, but then, you knew that right?

Thanks Farnham, If I do get over the pass I'll let you know. I didn't get a buddy pass this year :( Unless I score a cheap CL ticket etc. $80 or whatever it is at the window is gonna hurt. Do you have any discounts through the shop?

I'll be at winter park (find me at eagle wind lift), Monarch and CB. Wife doesn't want me backcountry skiiing right now. If I do I have to up the life ins premiums significantly.

egt's are a little high but overall it runs good. I'm just going to bag the boost controller and probably not hook up the wastegate. :hill:

Window price is $92 per day. I had some discount tickets for $40 but my friends have used them already. If I get anymore I'll shoot you a PM.

OMG.. I could have done a bad thing. I got a custom 2 1/2" straight exhaust with no wastegate and now I'm boosting up to 25psi  The work scott did at AA on broadway is exactly what I wanted. 90* mandrel off the flange and routed inside the frame rail next to the t-case. No muffler. I think my previous set up which was a literal 90 out and down probably restricted my flow to such a degree I was only getting maybe 15. Once it opened up to a free flow I got me some major boost. I gotta adjust the fuel but I make 10-15psi like it's nothing :D

There will be no passing me until I bend some crank rods :o

I gotta look at blow off valves or something

I have a fuel cut off switch left over from my porsche 931. you are welcome to it. set to 1.5 bar, it is a manifold pressure control. it sends a signal at 1.5 to cut fuel until it goes back to 1.3... eliminates a lot of problems. you need to put a fitting on the intake plenum, but it's worth it.

not a boost control, but it eliminates the harsh wastegate cutoffs. wastegate or blow off happens, not as harsh.
