The meeting spot for leaving Denver Saturday morning is again at the King Soopers parking lot in Aspen Park and this year it will be at 7AM.
My family is planning on heading up Wednesday afternoon the 22nd to ensure that we get the same camping spot. If you're heading out of Pitkin east on the Alpine Tunnel Road FS 839, take a right at Middle Quartz Creek Road FS 767 approximately 4 miles. We will be on the right (South). I will try and snag the RS banner from the CM trailer to hang up in the camping spot. Anyone is more than welcome to join us before the event starts.
Sweet!
This is a family scenery run. Nothing technical. We keep a spirited pace, but nothing too fast that you can't stop and take a quick picture once in a while. Both Waunita and Black Sage passes are basically paved dirt roads. Lots of great scenery and things to stop and look at.
A good driver in a stock LandCruiser will have absolutely no problems during this run, as long as their rig is in sound mechanical shape. I have traveled all of these passes in a rented Mercury Mountaineer years ago and it had no problems.
Anybody scared yet?
is the meeting spot the same as last year for the folks coming up sat morning?

Nathaniel, where's the pre-run Friday night camp?

Put me down for a bucket of fruit salad for Saturday night (spiking will be optional).![]()

Hey guys,
I am hoping to make this trip...tell me about Rising Sun runs. Do you guys chill out and drive slow down these trails? I always enjoy cruising slow and taking in the scenery.

This latest trail run plan is still stocker-friendly? I am probably going to take my underpowered 1st gen 80 Series. My FJ60 has the OME setup, but I'd rather drive the fuel-injected rig...
