Has anyone ever had to get a DR 2365 form for Air Care Colorado so you can pass emissions?
http://aircarecolorado.com/index.php/about-the-test/1981-and-older/exemptions/

I called Air Care today to get some answers about their visual inspection which I have failed twice. I was told that because my 22r emissions is not 100% OEM then they would fail me every time. Instead of spending more money on a carb and emissions crap, I would rather just upgrade to EFI. I asked him if I did upgrade then what would I have to do in order to pass emissions. He said to do the upgrade, call him back and he would give me the number to a state inspection center, the center would evaluate and if it meets standards, then they would give me a DR 2365. Has anyone had to do this? It sounds like a PIA.

I did one of those when I moved here with my 60 that has the 5.3 v8.

It was easy, I just drove to the Teller Street location and the state inspector there looked it over and gave me my form. If you do it all like it is supposed to be for the appropriate model year's EFI you'll be OK. The state inspector that looked at mine really knew his stuff, hard to put it past them. It needs to be right. they will then test it liek the later model it is made to operate like.

Non OEM VS OEM cats was a big one, they let me through with non OEM cats. All Evap systems must be there and functional, as well as any EGR or air injection if the year you choose to clone had it.

Pick the simplest year of EFI to copy and do that, then tell them it's that year. My V8 for example came with air injection and EGR depending on the year, I picked a year that didn't have those things. I'm not sure how toyota 22RE stuff changed over the years.

Thanks, Marco. The donor vehicle will have to be from 85 to 88 to keep things as simple as possible.

What was the big thing with non oem cats?

everything from stem to stern is supposed to be factory OEM stuff.........

So the cats kinda fell under that. The rest of my conversion was VERY factory looking so when it came to the cats he said I was OK even though they weren't factory emissions equipment (as in not OEM cats). I KNOW lots of people run aftermarket cats... he just saw mine and talked about it so I mention that to people when they ask about my process..

I ran some walker cats from Summit and he mentioned them by brand. "the walker cats are good, you should be fine". again, knowledge was impressive.

If I were to do it again I would still try to run aftermarket cats since the OEM ones are NLA for most applications or cost prohibitive.

I'd recommend the same for you depending on your situation.

I'm running a LCE header (50 state legal) with a non oem cat from them and 2 1/4 inch magnaflow exhaust. Stock exhaust was small like 1 7/8. Hope that's not a problem with them.
