Last year we looked at the Echo Park Group Camp. Not a single one of us thought it was appealing. Everyone spread out and found a spot they liked in empty, regular camp ground.

I’m interested in doing this one. Is this open to +1s? I’ve got a friend with a 3rd gen Tacoma that is interested as well, but he’s not in our club and lives in Nevada.

Great to have you guys on the forum @GTBradley and @TMartinLVNV. Welcome :)

How did you come across Rising Sun? Or Toyota 4x4s?

You and +1s are totally welcome to join the Dino Journey! I'm just curious to know you a lil before committing to spend a 4 day adventure with complete strangers. I hope that makes sense. Everyone else so far in this thread I already know at least a bit.

If it helps, imagine I'm Forrest Gump getting on the school bus for the first time. I'm meeting the bus driver, and I introduce myself so I don't break mama's rule about taking rides from strangers. I hope that movie reference connects. Please let me know here or feel free to DM. Whatever you feel best with.

Hi Allen, I joined the forums after buying my new truck in February. Terry and I both built FFR Cobras some years ago and do a bit of driving together out west. He’s had his 4x4 for a while but I had a PreRunner so I couldn’t go off-roading with him until now. Actually, he’s going to show me the ropes in Moab the week before Rising Sun has their thing in Moab. I had a CJ7 back in the day and have rented a Rubicon to drive the Imogene Pass, but really am a newbie. I came to the last RS 4x4 Club meeting and I plan on being there next Wednesday too. I’m also going to get in on one of the trail cleanup events first chance I get, so I can officially join the club.

Thanks Allen. I'm Bradley's +1. We know each other from owning Factory 5 Shelby Cobra replica cars. We have been meeting in the CO Rockies during the summer to drive our cars through the mountains for the last few years. I've been wheeling for about 10 years all over southern NV, UT, NW Arizona, and Death Valley. I used to have a really built up Jeep TJ but now still get out on more sedate trails in my Tacoma. Bradley and I are doing 4 days in Moab next month on the rated 2-4 trails including White Rim (I've done once before). He told me about your Dinosaur NM run and it sounded really good to me. I'm retired now, so I have the time :ROFLMAO:.

I'm looking for a group that actually wants to spend the day on trails exploring. I recently went out with an "overlanding" group that left the campsite 3 hours after sunrise, stopped 3 times at sights, did a total of 16 (not a typo) miles, and returned to the campsite at 3:45. I like to do a lot more than that. I also tear up the trails on my Honda Talon SxS.

…and to answer the first two questions, I did an active search for 4x4 clubs in my area because I don’t buy expensive things to put them on the shelf. I’m looking to getting out there and am interested in overlanding. My wife and I pull our Coleman all over the state each summer.

Toyota is in my blood! The first car I owned was a 1963 MGB, but while my dad and I restored it I thoroughly enjoyed my 74 Celica. My son and I fixed up a 1993 Toyota regular cab pickup and I moded the daylights out of a 2012, 4cyl, PreRunner with supercharger and used it to tow the camper. Now I’m the proud owner of a Trailhunter.

Awesome! Welcome aboard Bradley and Terry! You're on the front page roster.

I appreciate the intros. Definitely keep up the good work towards becoming a full club member @GTBradley

It'd be sweet to see a Celica on the trails! They're all wheel drive right?

This Dino Adventure will be relatively chill and include time in the saddle. This is the second year I'm organizing this and I want us to grow it bit by bit. I do recommend driving your Tacomas. They're comfy, capable, and selfishly give me a chance to compare notes 😆 I drive a 2017 Tacoma.

…mine was barely two wheel drive:cautious:

Thanks for the add and let me know if there is anything I can help with.

Oh no, I just booked a trip for the primary dates. I didn't have it on my Calendar. I can make the backup dates if it moves. Mark me as tentative

I was doing some recon on the area we're headed to and followed your link to Gaia.

For some reason, the map loads up in Murphy Creek Trail head in Cali.
You can navigate to the tracks you've laid in CO/UT.
Funny little Gaia quirk.

Also glad I read the original post about dogs. Rafi/ Recce'll have to sit this one out.

This is going to be a sweet trip.

Thanks for checking the link. I updated with what should be better. Idk why Gaia did that. When I clicked on the link it also did like you described, but when I went through my Gaia account to my saved routes, it had added extra back/forths to the route. One way or another it was bricked. I updated the route and updated the link. I also added a stopgap screenshot to show what the Gaia link should show now.

And yeah, I wish the doggos were allowed. My understanding is National Parks do not allow dogs.

@allen.wrench
Is this run still open to one more ?
Yes sir. Are you interested?

I appreciate y'all providing posts to help update the thread. Now well after Cruise Moab and two months away from this adventure! It is prime time to post a reminder and refresh the thread on the forums :)

Allen, if the date is set for August 29th, I won't be able to make it. I will be in Miami and no good wheeling there. I hope you do this next year. I was really excited for this
