After Cruise I was going to go see the La Sal Mountains. We've all seen them, but who's been there? My plan was to drive the La Sal Loop and make some deviations up to trails, camp sites and passes. Unfortunately all those roads were still closed for winter. Instead, I drove Onion Creek Rd to Thompson Canyon, Polar Mesa then West on the Castleton-Gateway Rd ending up in Gateway Colorado. It was a beautiful two days with very little traffic. Fun Treks #53 and #58. I guess the reason we never go to the La Sals (or the Heneries) is you have to go in the Summer, and in the Summer, we go to the Rockies. If you do find yourself in Moab in the Summer, go do Geyser and La Sal Passes (FunTreks #59 and 60). It will be beautiful.
