Completely lost…..fj60 front axle/transfer not working.

Paul did you check to make sure that the pinch bolt on the end of the transfer linkage is still in place and it is rotating the shaft that goes into the top of the case over the output shafts?
This was 100% going to be my guess too!

My FJ40 came to me (in 1990) with the hubs completely packed full of grease (Warn hubs). They worked, but you can bet that in cold temps, they would have just locked up solid. 'Lightly grease' - indeed!

I am late to this party and am glad to see it is fixed! I had the identical symptom on my '87 FJ60, however my root cause was t-case linkage adjustment, also a super easy fix. I remember @rover67 riding with me during part of a spooky night run and we were scratching our heads trying to figure out why I didn't have front drive. I remember I had a tire blowout on that run too LOL.

Do you have the 2 Low mod and accidently putting it in 2 low instead of 4 low. My brother ran into that problem once at cruise moab.
