I’m out. Can’t squeeze this into my schedule.

Dang.

I'm still in!

Also, are there plans for a convoy down or everyone just rally at the campsite?

Awesome Nic.

I will be heading to camp most likely Friday or Thursday after spending a few days in Chaco with Dad.

Sorry, not going to make it this year. Too many conflicts in September and won't be able to squeeze this one in.....thanks for organizing it Perry. Still one of my favorite fall trips.

Bummer man! We'll miss ya!

Hey all. Just got a group reservation set for the train ride. When booking your reservation, use code sun18. This will keep us all together. Also, when making reservation, we will be doing train ride on Sunday September 23rd. Taking the bus from Antonito to Chama. Train from Chama to Antonito.

Excited for the run!

So id like to get an idea of who will be going on this run. Just a few weeks out. Really looking forward to this run, and riding the Cumbres and Toltec Railroad again.

The plan for the trip is:

Camp: We will base camp outside Antonito above the old track maintance town of Sublette, NM. GPS cords: 36.990746, -106.226839.

Saturday: We will chase the train out of Chama, NM. A section of this will be on pavement, but we will break off from the train using Apache Canyon to access Osier.

Sunday: Will be the train ride day. When getting your ticket, make sure to use promo code sun18. This will keep the group together. We are going to ride the bus from Antonito to Chama, and take the train from Chama to Antonito. You can call the Cumbres and Toltec to make your ticket reservation or go online- I haven't done that way yet, always called in.

Monday: We will start the chase from Whiplash Curve, waiting for the train from Antonito. This is one of the fun stretches to chase. We will be on dirt the whole time. Its a blast racing the train to the next photo opp. As well as trying to beat it to Sublette. Then ending back at Osier.

From there, folks can make there way back home. My surgery just got bumped to the next week in October, so have a few days to make my way home.

Really excited for this run!

Really excited for this run! Enjoyed the C&TS a bit today. Leaves are starting to change in the Chama Valley. I'll be heading to camp above Sublette, NM tomorrow after chasing the train a bit.

Sublette, NM is easily accessible and GPS did get.me.there. smooth dirt roads into camp. Should be a great weekend!!

Sorry man, I'm going to have to cancel. I had the truck all packed up and ready to go but some last, last-minute stuff came up. Pretty bummed about it but there's always next year! Have a fun and safe trip!

I'm also gonna have to throw in the towel. Have to prepare to have a new sewer line trenched in for the house.

For those that made it: Justin and Brian (and Bob, who would join along for the Apache Canyon stretch), thanks for a fantastic time. Exactly what I needed before surgery! Justin, sorry about the 45. Bummed, but glad you were able to make the most of it. Dan, was great to see you and the Fam Saturday at Osier. An absolute blast over the last few days. Nothing better than Golden Aspen's, Steam trains and cruisers. We're thinking a Caboose for next year's run......
Will post more pics when I get back. Enjoying a night at the dunes since I can't remember the last time I was there.
