So, is the first day the 10th, or the 11th? Can I get some idea of the gear we'll need to bring being this is our first time with this run.

Can't wait for this weekend!!

Kurt, the first will now be the 11th. We can do some early steam chasing. Planning to head down on the 10th mid day. Need to re- schedule things with work.

As for gear, i'd plan on typical high Rocky Mountain mid/late fall weather gear. Warm sleeping bag, some good layers, especially for the evening time and sunscreen.

It doesn't get much better than fall time in Chama!

By the way, I have alot, ALOT of firewood that I collected after Cruise Moab. Should I bring some? Also I still have pulled pork leftover from Cruise Moab, I could supply enough for dinner one night? Let me know.

I say yes!

Just booked a couple tickets for the train. The reservationist did mention the spots were starting to fill up, so if you're planning on doing this, you might make your reservations sooner rather than later....

I will have my dog with me, but he will stay in the camper for the day.

He'd probably have fun also, but he's not accustomed to boarding. Can't leave him in the truck like I did with Zan & Jayna that first time. I'll figure it out later!

Carolyn and I are in for sure. Train booked...I have the rear end of my 40 torn apart, and waiting new parts to arrive...

What type of camper are you taking?

So, never being on this run before....Are we going to be close enough to stay at one spot the entire weekend? Just out and back type runs daily? I can't imagine pulling a trailer quickly down a dirt road chasing a train...

We will be camping above the old track maint. town of Sublette, NM. This will be home base for the trip.

Sublette, NM and views from camp.

I'm ready.

Interested in joining, possibly with my daughter and our little camper. Depends on if my in-laws are in town to help out around the house while I'm gone.

I've been down to photograph and ride the train the past two years in October, but timing just hasn't overlapped with y'all.
