2 Broncos, a Jeep and a Land Cruiser sounds like the start to a bad joke, but instead was the consist for a fun Saturday morning drive up to the Champion Mill. Second time making this trip and first in the 200 series which had no problems even with factory (and lacking tread) tire size. We drove up toward the mine, but were stopped by two off camber snowfields blocking an otherwise open road. We had to hike the final 1/4 mile to the pass and opted not to hike the remaining mile or so to the mine.
It was more crowded than I've ever seen it because, we later learned, the Juniper Jamboree was happening near by. Several times we had to tuck into the trees to let runs of 8-12 vehicles go by on the narrow trail, but the weather was excellent and everyone was happy and having fun.
If you've never visited, it is worth the trip and an impressive structure in a remote location.
