Spent the weekend camping near Buena Vista with my wife and daughter. A few years ago I received a gift card to a company called Hipcamp. It's essentially AirBnB for camping. They have all sorts of accommodations to choose from, cabins, tents, yurts, and land that you can rent.

We ended up staying in a canvas tent tucked away in a aspen grove. The inside was pretty basic, just a couple of chairs and some battery powered lanterns. We had to bring outer own air mattresses and bedding which was fine. The tent is constructed on a wooded deck and is very secure. There was also a wooded picnic table and a propane powered gas fire pit which is great too.

We spent all day Saturday at the Mt. Princeton hot springs which is okay. Pretty expensive just to swim. No 4wheeling or fishing on this trip just a simple leisure trip with the family.

On the way back home we took 285. No issues at all. I was surprised at the mileage I was able to achieve in my 2023 SR5 Tundra coming home. I filled up in Johnson’s Corner before we hit the road. I was probably averaging between 65 and 80 mph coming home. Ran into very little traffic so I was able to cruise pretty good. I was able to average 23.9 mpgs. The best was 24.1 mpgs right when I got off the highway near my home. It dropped down once I had to drive on city streets. If I would have been gingerly with it I could have easily averaged over 25mpgs.

Word to the wise, hurry up and visit Buena Vista. It is quickly becoming another hipster town. A lot of brand new modern architecture homes are being constructed. This may be great for some but for an original Colorado kid who used to go to BV in the 80s and 90s quite a bit, it's no longer the slow quite mountain town.
