I might be in for some of this. i'd love to do the whole thing but not sure I'm ready to quit being a full time wage slave yet.

Spend many recent hours researching trip, this a very long but also very informative Vid 1.5 hr, (1) just border crossings to Panama. Same couple has another one about (2) shipping Colon, Panama to Cartagena, Colombia 35 min. Not including South from there and 1 direction only, the return trip just make that in reverse order. The *90 day Guatemala TIP rule, Lithium battery Transport and Drone restrictions (Nicuragua).
IMO suggest leaving pets at Home.

It's a must view if your going, seriously. Seen some simplified others, but these are the best ones I found so far.
Does not mean I am still not interested. casi Sueco

Thanks Mike! That's why it takes 2 years to plan this trip! And yes, it's not cheap. Been watching. lots of videos myself and just bookmarking them for now to filter them down to some of the better ones.

A $30-35k trip easily, currently seems as a potentially very hostile environment. Not in nor out.

Will take you up on that Brian. Maybe you will even join in!

Thanks for the Video link! I also have the book by Dan Grec "The Road Found Me" He drove from Alaska-Tierra Del Fuego over 2 years.

Scott, The pre-Run is open to all as well. And, open as to the route. Doesn't have to be on the same route as we'll be taking. It's more about testing the rigs and the people on what it will take to make the trip.
I just read that book twice, back to back. It was SO good.

Some do and some don't use facebook. I joined a group with a lot of inormation and sources, called PanAmerican Travel association. They do have some very valuable information and some a little less. Sources of Ho(s)tels, Camp spots, Routes, Mechanics, part stores and lot's more. Ton's of Pic's I guess you could imagine. But also depending interest and values, expenses and some cost saving ideas.

Dave, I can get along most of the time. I believe this is not that one. I’m out.
Will follow and enjoy the updates/ pics of you(r) and company travels, keep all of us patiently waiting (RS4X4) posted.
I’ll give the post a little
bump now and then.

Met with the spouse of a friend's niece who grew up in Santiago, Chile Friday night. Have ordered paper maps of Chile, Argentina and Peru as he has offered to help me route out some additional places to visit off the main route. He just spent several weeks traveling in Patagonia last year. This will be of great value to the trip. Exciting!

Haven't posted anything here for about 3 months, but have been doing lots of planning work. Spent an hour on the phone last week with Kurt Williams as he has completed this journey and offered lots of great info. Looking to officially get started on the 45 build for the trip after Labor Day.
