Hey guys,

It's been a while since I've been on the forum, but it occurred to me to reach out to you guys on here.

I'm heading down to Longmont tomorrow night to pick up this truck:

It's a 1997 f250 with the 7.3 and a new E4OD.

My old 1995 F 150 got T-Boned a couple of months ago, and I have been looking for a 3/4 ton replacement. I was actually down in Denver last weekend and I got to check this truck out in person. The lady who's selling it said her husband is in jail for his fifth DUI and she needs to sell it to pay property taxes. Her husband began a Super Duty solid axle swap on the truck but didn't get it finished, so it's sitting on blocks. It appears that most of the parts are there, and that there should be enough there for me to at least get it rolling.

I plan to bring a truck and trailer down, get some kind of axle (either the SD axle or the old TTB setup) underneath it, roll it onto the trailer, and bring it back to Wyoming where I have a lift, tools, and more resources to complete the axle swap. I'm planning on camping somewhere close on Friday night and getting started on Saturday morning.

The truck is located in Longmont right near the airport. Anyone want to accompany me on this adventure? It would be great to see some you guys like @Doughboy @CardinalFJ60 @allen.wrench @Hulk @Stuckinthe80s and others. Give me a ring if you can!

Appreciate you reaching out. I live in Syracuse Utah right now and I'm flying to SoCal for the weekend to visit my folks.

Would be fun to catch up, but I can't. Safe driving all the same.

Jealous of the truck find! I miss my 95 OBS truck all the time.

Neato! I have a Cruise Moab committee gig mid day but may look you guys up in the afternoon to see if you're still at it.
Reach out if you run short of jack stands or hi-lifts or such.

Sounds like fun, but I'm singing in "Requiem of the Masters" tonight.

Requiem of the Masters III
Friday, March 27 | 7:30 pm
Requiem of the Masters III is a powerful musical journey blending movements from Mozart, Fauré, Brahms, and Sorenson, with narration by Karla Walker of Colorado Public Radio. Enjoy the majesty and intimacy of the Requiem tradition—from the haunting 'Lacrimosa' to the radiant 'Sanctus' and serene 'Pie Jesu.' The festival promises deep musical satisfaction and a transcendent experience for the audience.

I may be able to come help. I won a storage unit auction in Centennial that I need to pickup tomorrow, it's a snow plow for a truck I hope I can get it into the bed of my truck by myself it's probably around 400 pounds. But after that I'm driving back north to go home so maybe I can stop by Longmont if needed. I told the storage unit guy I'd be there around 11 am to pick it up. But I also told a female friend of mine that I'm going to be in Denver so we may do something too, not sure yet if she'll be free. Anyway, I'll check in when I know more.

I made it to Denver tonight. I’ll be heading over there tomorrow morning at about 8am. Address is 7060 St Vrain Rd in Longmont. Give me a ring if you’re heading over! I have a ton of tools, couple of floor jacks, hi lift, jack stands, generator, etc. But the one thing that I forgot was a come-along. I guess I can use the hi lift for that.

Well it’s not going to happen. I went and checked it out, and it was not represented accurately. Parts were missing, glow plugs were inoperable, A/C didn’t work, and the original front axle wasn’t present. I’m going to be looking for trucks around here for the weekend. Maybe I’ll find something else to bring back with me. Let me know if you know of any nice 3/4 tons for sale!

Bummer. This snow plow I got is bigger than what I thought it would be, and its really heavy I was going to try to get it in the bed of my truck by myself but that's not going to happen lol. Unless you're bored and think we can get it into the bed of my truck?

Well I had a wild weekend. Drove from Longmont to the springs to look at a 7.3, and then back up to Brighton to look at a 460/zf5 truck. I bought the 460 truck, loaded it up and headed out Sunday afternoon. Overheated the Chevy 8.1 on 287 near the Forks bar. Blew a heater line and dumped four gallons of coolant. Took 460 truck off the trailer and drove it to town for the parts. 460 idled rough, was throwing CEL. Pulled code, was for MAP sensor. Replaced MAP sensor. Idled better, but fell on its face when accelerating. Traced wires, found a place where a mouse at the wires. Cut and spliced, replaced serpentine belts while I was at it. Ran great after that. That was at about 10PM. Got a coolant cap, hose, fan clutch, and coolant for the 8.1. Got that truck fixed just after midnight. Drove two hours and slept at a DOT turnout near Elk Mountain at about 2 AM. Woke up at 8, drove home. Now I’m gonna shower my nasty ass off and mess with the 460 truck.

The truck is a 1997, three owners, one of the owners was the seller’s friend. 460 was rebuilt with an RV cam about 50k ago. No oil anywhere, and just a few drops of coolant. Everything is tight except for the front D shaft and the drag link. Clean inside and out. Tires are decent tread, but dry rotted. One rear pass side middle leaf is broken. I’ll probably just rebuild the rears with an add a leaf. Best part was I talked him down from $8000 to $5000. He threw in a water pump, train horn (anyone want to buy it?), and an OBD 1 scan tool.
