And if you accidentally bump your CDL switch while going 70 MPH with the hubs unlocked, I'll bet your viscous coupling would fry in a heartbeat. Not worth the risk to me, even though I agree that manual hubs would look sweet on an FZJ.

Nothing will happen if the button gets bumped. The VC has quite a bit of bias and will actually drive the truck under light load.

I thought Christo had figured out a way to mod the transfer case so you could run part-time 4WD w/o pulling the drive shaft. The whole drive shaft thing is the deal killer for me.

Christo does sell a part time kit. It replaces the VC with a solid hub that effectively will remove the bias and leave you with a part time case. The downside is, as you know, all wheel drive ROCKS in the winter!!!!! The Part time kit also comes with AVM hubs which are (IMO) a serious downgrade to Aisens!

Yes, it's called the "part time kit."

Thanks UB I'm interested the idea of flat towing behind the motorhome would solve some problems for me. Any issues flat towing an 80 ?

Did you install the part-time kit (with your Aisens)?

And couldn't you just put it into 4 High in the winter when it snows? :confused:

Silly thing was I spent the money and set it up to flat tow then we sold the motor home! :rolleyes: Go figure....
