So yesterday I pulled the trigger on a new bike after 15yrs. My local shop is in the process of liquidating it’s 2018 demo fleet. After the fire this summer they did not nearly see the miles they normally would have. So other than some scratches in the down tube from what looks like a poor decision on a car rack I picked up a pretty clean bike. (Covered scratches with a sticker)

extra large Yeti SB5.5 carbon.
Enduro 29er. 160mm front 140mm rear travel.

Took it on its first ride yesterday afternoon and I’m delighted. Climbs fantastic and descends equally as good. As I’m coming off old tech probably anything I picked would be a vast improvement. The only other new bike I have any trail time with is a Durango Bike Company “blackjack”.

The shop is 2nd Ave Sports in Durango for reference.

Congrats Corbet. Sweet whip. Kirsten bought her Intense as a demo fleet sell off and being a small it was also lightly used, that's a great way to save some money.

Great choice, man! I demo'd a 5.5 before I bought my 4.5. It was too much bike for me, but would be a great bike for a more aggressive rider. (Oh, who am I kidding? A younger rider. 😀) After over 100 rides and 1700 miles, I still love the 4.5.

What's even funnier, I think I'll keep my old Cannondale Gemini for Bridger. Just need to find a small frame on eBay cheap to move all the parts over to. He should be tall enough in two years. Currently 4'7" and turns 9 this week. Then he can rip a 7" bike until he can afford to buy his own.

So that leaves my other old bike. Who wants a large 2002 Cannondale Jekyll 2000 with full XTR drivetrain, hugi hubs, Raceface Carbon cranks, etc...?

Congrats! Very jealous, though I'm looking at the 5 (want the 27 rather than the 29), but still, very sweet!

My brother has an SB6 from 2010 (?). Somewhere in there. Thing has been beat to death, but it works so dang well (even now).

Very cool bikes indeed, and surprisingly tough.
