We're putting together our annual Adventure Ride for this year. We've narrowed it down to August or September and in the process of finalizing the route. The run will start and return to the Denver area and be approx 5 days of riding and camping. It'll include several high passes, river crossings and some Colorado/Utah desert. You'll need to carry all your gear, food and supplies with you. This is not a super tough run but, you will be challenged. Any dual sport/adventure bike between a 400 to a 1200 will be suitable. Weather is typical Colorado high country weather and Utah desert weather. It's not uncommon to have sun, rain, snow, hail and a clear night all in one day.
As more details are finalized I'll post them up. If interested, lmk. Any questions, please ask.

Update:
431C1A6F-63B0-47E0-B609-F2D369A0EB1B.jpeg

Looks like our Adventure MotoCamp Run is set for September 4-8 (+9th bonus day)!

Tentative route is approx 1200 miles of 2 lane, gravel, dirt, mountain passes, shelf trails and desert sand.

It'll start in Idaho Springs, Co. and head south to Lake City and up into the Alpine Loop (Silverton, Ouray, Telluride, etc.) and then over to Slick Rock and into the Utah Desert for a nights stay at the famous 3 Steps desert motel and then to Moab and then back home.

Must live and camp off the bike for the entire ride.

More info to follow.

DM if interested.

No tw200’s allowed? :(
I get it though, you want to move briskly…
I've been kicking around seeing if I could join for a section, perhaps ride with them on the Ouray/Ridgway to Moab part if they'll have me.

If you want a partner for a mini GJ -> Uncompaghre/Nucla/Paradox/Moab -> GJ part of their loop, bring that little guy out.

I'm on a DRZ400 so it's barely more suited to longer ADV. It's still rocking the stock gas tank + MSR bottles so my range is much shorter* between Exxon stops than it looks like they're planning. And it's not geared to be brisk, you might say.

*About 50% of their estimates by the look of it.

Would love to have you! Yeah, a 200 on fatties might be a little slow but, were not moving fast anyway so if you want to give it a shot I'll hang with you.

Open to all. As we get closer I'll post up about days/times we'll be in Alpine Loop area and see if it works for your schedule.

Well....that's exciting!
Our 2023 MotoCamp Adventure Run (Adventure Tool Company and Beardman Off-Road) through Colorado and Utah this September (see previous posts for details) is now partnering with OnX Offroad Maps!
This means well be creating a digital route and do daily updates with attached photos so those interested can follow along!
The route will also be a available at OnXmaps.com for those that wish to duplicate it!

So, went from a disassembled mess, broken fuel intake and torn o-rings to PUFF magical rainbow and got it all tuned, tweeked and reassembled today. It runs so much better (for a 20 year old adventure bike!) Next is load it up and do a couple of test rides before the big ride!

So....Kinda cool. Thanks to OnX Offroad I've been doing some route finding for our MotoCamp Adventure Run in a couple of weeks between Slick Rock, Co and the 3 Steps Hideaway Inn in eastern Utah (South of Moab) and it looks like we'll be in some very cool back country between Colorado and Utah! Amazing amount of old mines in this part of the world!

FYI

There's a fire burning currently on Dry Mesa and down Tatum Draw west of Delta. It does not currently affect Rimrocker but something to put at the bottom of your possible contingencies list. Some people do join RR from the north using 25 Mesa Road out of Delta and the USFS may come out of Montrose via 402 to get to Divide Road, which is Rimrocker (these primary FS roads all converge at Columbine Pass). Would be fairly safe to assume it won't be an issue on your itenerary but it's a thing anyway.

Imogene is not what it once was. Ouray to Telluride took us a long hard 6 hours to get over due to amount loose rock on the steep parts and picking up numerous bikes. Could do it in a couple of hours in a LC…..Damn fun though!

Day three: You enter Disappointment Valley, Colorado. Your buddy gives you a SPOT satellite rescue becon. You go into the desert heading to Utah. You get a flat. You miss your turn due to the trail being over grown with sunflowers. You get into several dirt and sand crashes due flash flood trail damage. You run sand washes on 705's and life sucks. Your two hours late and your buddy and the 3Steps Hidden Inn owner come and rescue you. You eat, drink and pass out at the gorgeous oasis 3Steps Hidden Inn in the Utah desert. That’s adventure!

Day two: Lunch in Ouray, Co. Approx 2:30 and we head up to go over Imogene Pass. Done it several times in the 60 so no concerns......Hook up a group of mixed bag of 1150's, 1250's, KTM and Africa Twins for Missouri. We spend the next 6 hours reaching the pass. There is so much rubble, rocks and babies heads on the trail that the moment you lose traction the bike goes down. We spend hours lifting 450 to 900 pound bikes up and pushing them to get traction. Two of the most spectacliur crashes were when Kevin launched his GS800 up a 60 foot granite face and then hit a gravel/scree field, the big bike lost traction slid backwards, the rear tire dug in launching the front tire into the air and launching Kevin off the bike.....he flies down the scree field like Superman and face plants half way down! I drop my bike and run up the hill (12000 feet) and he pops up and gives me the thumbs up and yells he's OK! We drag the heavy bastard around and drove it down to the base of the granite face for a second attempt.....he made it the second time!
I take a run at it on the KLR tractor and hit the top of the granite face and launched like a Dukes of Hazard jump scene......that heavy bike sailed like a little Honda 70 trail bike of a home made dirt ramp but came down like a ton of bricks! I managed to lock the brakes before finding the cliff edge!
By now the sun is going down as we head down on the Telluride side. Half way down one of the big Beemers rear brakes lock up and stalls the bike. We spend another half hour getting it to release. Once in Telluride it's pitch black. We look for a hotel since we're and hours away from our designated camp area. Hotels start at $450 plus parking so my wife tells us about the Telluride City Campground in the park. We ride down and the old man camp host greets us and tells us they're sold out......but, he feels pity on us and lets us use a site that just got canceled for no showing. We setup in the dark and pass out. We showed our appreciation with a bottle of Larceny Bourbon the next morning. That's Adventure!

Well it's happenin.......After 20 years and this last adventure ride my old KLR650 is offically retired. Tuesday morning I'm renting a 2023 Yamaha Tenere T700 for the day to test ride and start my data gathering on my next ATC Adventure bike. While I will miss my old friend I'm looking forward to seeing what is out there in the mid-weight adventure bike world!
