The moisture is good but the problem we're having is it's been so dry for a while that the soil is like concrete so it's not absorbing and it just runs off.

It's been a dry couple of years here in GJ for sure.

Actually recently did some charts for Lake Mead and Lake Powell, too. This data was current as of early July 2021, shows I think pretty clearly the pervasive dry period we're experiencing in the Colorado River basin.
The feds are going to release nearly eight feet of water out of Blue Mesa Res to help lake Powell produce hydro electricity because it is so low.

The topic of water is integral to the West and especially between the Continental Divide and Great Basin inclusive of the Colorado River basin. It pops up periodically and will only become more important to any discussion of land use here.

The Bureau of Reclamation is taking public comment for a couple more weeks on the drought contingency. This affects everyone in the Basin because we as Upper Basin will have to supply from Navajo, Blue Mesa, Flaming Gorge to keep Powell above 3525 feet. That means water restrictions it seem are likely.
