Haven't been on the forum in quite awhile and just learned of this outing. SO bummed to have to miss it (working Saturday) but this is exactly what I need! Didn't drive my own vehicle at the Yankee Hill Snow Run due to lack of experience but had a great time with you guys. Is Yankee Hill a decent place to go out alone and get some experience. I feel like I should hold off until you do another Noob day...
Yeah man, come on down to the gulches with us. The details are in the thread: https://risingsun4x4club.org/xf/threads/gulches-run-june-21-23rd.27962/

If you're completely stock then Hackett might be a bit much for you. However, we'll be doing Longwater and maybe Metberry as well and those should be good for a 4runner to run. If you don't feel like camping then come down on Saturday morning. If we don't get to Metberry on Saturday, I might be willing to do it on Sunday if you want to go!

Sorry for the hijack Jackson!

I picked up the Hi Lift Kit for my 60" Hi Lift Extreme jack, a lift mate, and also a 20,000# strap. Where can i find 3/8" chain to extend my winching distance? The videos show that winch tensioners clip onto chain in the system to allow the jack to be reset, but 4WP did not have any for me to pick up. Happy to break it all out on the run for use in a demonstration.

Thanks,

Todd

By all means. I’ll have the winch kit with me. A hilift demo is always part of this run. We may have a kit at slee, but not sure. We can always order it for you.

Chain can be had at Murdoch’s, you’re looking for 3/8 G70 chain. I usually put grab hooks on it. You can get it other places too, just trying to think of an easy place.

Found a 16’ section of 3/8 grade 70 in gold chromate at Grainger, so I should be good to go with the poor man’s winch option.

Thanks for the guidance and look forward to more learning on Saturday.

I'd suggest you wait to buy anything until after you have heard what Jackson has to say (there will be plenty), and you will be much more informed. ;-)

The chain was the last piece in what I started to acquire after the Jack It Night when I saw presentations about the utility of a hi lift. Also got ARB recovery straps and tree straps based up on the info that night.
