I just discovered the AC slow leak in our 2006 4Runner is from the evaporator and is a common issue. Anyone had this problem, and if so did you replace it? Looks like the entire dash needs to come out to get to it, and I’m looking for recommendations for a competent shop and/or DIY advice. Ugh. Thanks.

It's tough to DIY AC unless you have a vac pump. Unless of course you wait until it leaks all out. No real solution but to fix it unless you can live without AC. No recs for a shop but I'm sure that will come

I’ve been getting a complete evac and fill once a year for a few years due to the leak. Now it leaks down in just a few months. It’s definitely the evaporator, dye confirmed.
