Dude, @JadeRunner , What's up with that driver side CV? That's the same side you broke last year too...:eek:

Yes, that same side broke on Spring Ck. last year. Climbing up to the left. I guess it was just the way the obstacle presented itself now that I think about it. That corner was unweighted, I was bumping it to try to get up, there was some wheel spin slipping, grabbing between snow and rock in double low. I need to be more careful. Driver error. I am getting really good at swapping them out on the trail though.

Out of curiosity, are you using new Toyota or a remanufactured or an aftermarket?

You might need to him with a SAS…

If Scott were gonna SAS, he would have by now. He's a dedicated IFS wheeler, I have to respect that even though all 4 of my Land Cruisers are solid axle. Unlike a lot of FJCs I have seen Scott doesn't tripod that much. Hard to believe he's had that rig for 19 years, I remember him and I taking it out and Christening it in Brook Forest in the snow right after he got it. Later that year we wheeled Spring Creek Trail and a tree jumped out in front of his bumper and thus the bull bar was fabbed and installed. Since then he's done a ton of mods: lift, tires, armor, winch, radios, drawers, front locker, dual case, but if SAS were in the cards he'd a done it by now. Scott's a hell of a driver and does stuff on 33s with IFS that a lot of guys can't do on 37s. Above, when he says "driver error", what he means is, he constantly tests the limits. I respect that.

While we were replacing it, Scott explained that it was factory reman, but these are getting scarcer than hen's teeth and the next one will probably have to be aftermarket. In my experience, there are a number of parts you can't get new from Toyota any more but can still get factory reman, such as alternators, water pumps and smog pumps. I've never even tried to buy a new factory birf, so I have no idea if they even exist, all my spares are used I have bought or been given from other cruiserheads.

Wow super cool photos everyone. Lots of hard parkin'!

Sorry I missed the trip but looks like there were enough trucks so one less was probably appreciated. If anyone wants to do the same trail next week on the 9th let me know!
