Scott, I am going to try to go on this run too and help out. If there is some other big rigs (crawlers) Ill haul WR up, if not Ill drive the 80. If there is a lot of snow, then Ill still bring WR to break trail.

Thanks for the help Kevin. I know you love snow runs. Should be fun.

Snow conditions will be unpredictable as usual. Perhaps someone will do a pre- run before then. I might try. But, it would be a last minute decision.

I'll be there. Can't wait to try out these 35s in some real snow.

I have the pizza order confirmed with Beau Jo's in Idaho Springs. Some new snow has been floating around. We should be set for a a good run.

I'll be bringing some prototype USA made recovery ramps to try out and they will be featured in New and Notable in Toyota Cruisers and Trucks Magazine - so lets get stuck!

Also will bring 8 maxtrax because we know they work - so lets get stuck!

Detect a theme? Lets get stuck!

Remember to bring plenty of warm clothes and water.

I still have my brand new Maxtrax from the Eclipse trip. They still haven't seen a tire on them.

Maybe this time?

I went out yesterday and checked out conditions for Saturday. I was wondering if there was going to be much snow on the ground. There is no lack of snow after looking! Check out the photos.

This was about the time that I had to turn around because the snow was getting too deep to do solo and without good recovery gear.

To anyone unfamiliar with the AllTrails map, that image is from a previous run. The green circle is where I remembered to start recording, the black circle is the start/finish of the trail, and the blue circle is as far as I could comfortably go. Anything beyond that was getting deeper. Probably about 12-18". The snow is a little wet, but is pretty fresh. It is quite fun to try to slog through.

The homes that are up there have also plowed a few mile stretch of the trail so it is possible to get to the fun parts further up.

To anyone on the fence, come on out! To all those already coming, it is going to be a really fun run!

Here are some photos for anyone unfamiliar with the trail to assist with orientation. On your way to the trail head, right before it goes from paved to gravel, you will see the condos and the old mine building in the first photo. The AllTrails map will take you directly to the Cemetary parking lot. The lot is NOT locked. There is just a chain wrapped around the gate to keep it closed as people were saying. Those are the 2nd and 3rd photo. The other lot is only about .5 of a mile back on the trail and is very simple to find. It is the final photo that I posted. The trail is the road that is just to the right of the giant mound of dirt posted in the 2nd photo.

Yea no problem. He is welcome.

Thanks for posting up. Looks fun. Everyone be prepared for cold, snow and wind - big time. Should be fun with the new snow coming in.

We also will want to leave by 930am sharp. I expect lots of UTV's and other groups. Late comers will have to follow our tracks. But, don't worry, there are always veterans coming in late also that know the trail. Plus you will catch up the the big group easily.

I suggest going up the canyon via Hwy 6 to Central City to avoid I-70 ski traffic.
