I'm not a preacher but prefer Saturday as well as that is typically football season and that can be sacred for others :hill: Sorry Jeff

Good Job for keeping the 40's Only Run alive Drew! And I agree with you that a radio and a baselined vehicle are small things to ask and should be mandatory. Plenty of time to get it done before the run happens.

Someday I hope to get back out there for a ride-along! :thumb:

On the run last year, my well-sorted FJ40 misbehaved on the trail like it never has. I made it through the trip, but with more flooding, stalls, hot-soak, and vapor lock issues than I have ever had off road. I'm about to put a bullet through it, or fuel inject it. So in spite of my knowledge of all the ways my carburetor can stab me in the back, it found new ones. Lesson learned. And my CB had internal issues and couldn't transmit more than 100 feet - and I have replaced the CB since then. All rigs should be trail ready, but to quote Robert Burns, the best-laid schemes o' mice an' men gang aft agley.

Fuel injection is one of the best things I did to my 40.

Sorry about that mix up Rezarf, I did confuse your rig with Keith's. OOPS!!!

That's alright, he did have the baldest tires I've ever SEEN! Ha! :hill:

Come on Martin... I'll even let you drive my 40! :thumb: Martin, what did we run one of your last years, was it Georgia Pass? That was a great run but we had a lot of vapor lock issues that run IIRC.

That is the stuff that is no biggie, something that sneaks up on you, unexpected, first time it has happened etc. NO BIGGIE! It is just the courtesy to address what you can before a run... that said, I have no info that any one who had issues had ANY prior knowledge of the issues on the run. I am only speaking in generalities.

I personally had vapor lock issues with my 40 on both Georgia Pass/Middle Fork, and again the last year on Argentine Pass. :o

Never have had vapor lock so you're welcome to drive mine when you come out for the 40s Only Run!

The old tires were older than me. It was sad to see them go...

I think I'm in, or at least my '40 is. We just got back from Cruise Moab, drove the 40 1110 miles during the week, much of it was on trails. We have stuff to improve/fix, but it was a great experience. My 16 y.o. daughter drove all of Thursday and loves the 40 and rock crawling. If I can't make 9-10 September I'm sure she will show up in "her" '40. :D

Drew, thanks for keeping this run going!

Alright...so Sept 9th it is! So next up is figuring out a trail. I plan on camping again this year where ever we end up. Doug and I had a good time last fall!
