I am thinking Bill Moore Lake would be a great trail, great views, not too hard, wide trail if we hit any traffic and close to Idaho Springs for lunch afterwards.

For those that want to "play" on a few harder routes there are The Chutes and if folks want to extend the time we could link up into Red Elephant Hill and or Mill Creek and complete the whole Empire loop.

We could hit up the ORIGINAL Hard Rock Cafe which is located in Empire or head over to Yards BBQ in Idaho Springs (it's good and the owner is a Cruiser guy).

I think it's the best option considering who would be coming out, thoughts?:thumb:

I'm running 2" lift, 30" tires, rear locker. I've only taken my 40 on one trail, but hope to take it down to the San Juans next weekend. I'd like to keep the potential for damage low, fresh paint and all. I've not done any wheeling up in the Empire area, so that would be something different. I know at least 4-5 people are coming from CLC. I plan on leaving Friday evening and camping somewhere up there so I don't have to leave Pueblo at 3 am. Anybody else for camping wherever we end up?

Drew I haven't been to Bill Moore Lake in years. I remember it as tame but a little bumping on the road up. Beautiful lunch spot though.

Good choice guys. I did Bill Moore years and years ago in my 40 running 31's and open diffs. Lots of fun and beautiful scenery. Have fun!

This is what I posted up in the CLC forum. It sounds like we will be doing Bill Moore Lake out of Empire CO for the 40s only run. Does anybody want to convoy up there on Friday evening Sept 16th and camp? There are a couple of campgrounds near Georgetown, and that would put us w/in 15 miles of the trail for Saturday morning. I was thinking of taking US 50, to CO 9 up to I-70 (meet up at US 24 and CO 9 for those leaving Springs). Trying to avoid lots of interstate driving since its scary in an FJ40!

I think I'm in but is that really the trail in that above video? It just looks like a forest service road with a few I'll maintained spots. Do u even need 4wd for that? If not i don't see the point, I would at least like to have to lock in the hubs.

I think we'll be able to make it, and the girls will appreciate a mild run in the bumpy 40 :)

We saw 7 sheep up on the hill on the post-Rally run weekend before last. Trail was in good shape. I should blow off work and join this in my 40 or 45.
