I need to change to a build thread now !

My truck needs a name !

Anyhoo
I have been busy fixing all the rust, it was very easy.
Then I removed the bed and vacuumed the frame removing a lot more sand. And finding out that the frame is actually a lot worse than I thought.

So i called Toyota to run my vin number for the frame replacement recall.
And it's covered !! WOOT WOOT
then he tells me it's unlimited miles 15 years from date of sale.
Aww :( missed it by 1 year. January 8 2013
Poop!
Well..... I Geuss I'm fixing it Again. :)
So with the new information of the very bad rust. I have decided to scrap my plans of just making it pretty and driving it for the time being. And jumping straight into the truggy. But I realized that I can't make real plans and budget untill I know exactly what I'm working with so......

I went out and bought BendTech Pro & BendTech Sheet Medal.
And have finalized my truggy plans.

So now I know how much steel I'm going to need, how much my truggy tube is going to weigh (which is less than the bed & frame)..
But while designing I decided that I need to also do either a internal cage (which I don't really like because of the room it takes up inside) or a Exo cage (which I don't really like because they have a tendency to be ugly)

What are your thoughts on internal or Exo ?

I'd say Exo cage all the way. It'll tie into your truggy design well and they look cool if they're done right. Plus they give lots of attachment area for things like high lifts and jerry cans and canopies etc.

my issue with exo's are I think there ugly.. I prefer the body lines of the truck as Toyota designed them.. but then there open for damage without a exo.... so.....

and why the hell are the photos loading up all rotated and crap ? that's not how there saved..

I used that stupid "Dupi Color Autoshop" paint
the ready to spray paints in the quarts at autozone.. yea.. its junk.. it sprayd threw my high doller gun like a texture spray gun for house's

do not use it.. it is crap.. im sure if you had the largest needle of a 2.2 that it might spray fine.. but still... after using it, I wouldn't recommend it.

and here is when I pulled off the bed, and started the sanding process... and the last picture of the cab 1/2 sanded is ware I sit now.
the air compressor I was using took a poop. and because its one of those fancy rotary screw compressors with A/C and DeHumidifing built in, running off of 3 phase.. we have to waite for the service tech to come fix it..

the Yellow is the OEM frame, and the rear outriggers are for the leaf spring rear mount.
the whole thing only weighs 177lbs with out welds
gray is DOM, blue is HREW, orange is 1x1 square

and this ware I sit now....
oh yea a teaser shot of my truggy design.. and im still going to use chevy 63" in the rear for now.. and ill just cut off the outriggers when I can afford the coil overs..

yes.. yes it is.. that last picture that appears to be a selfie, is the front leaf spring hanger.. and the worst location is at the firewall area on the frame. that's the worst location  and its going to require a lot of fabing.. basically a complete rebuild

its been a while since I have made progress on the truck.. sorry if you were following this thread and nothing happened.. but work has been super busy and ive had very little time to work on it.. only about 6-8 hours a week is all... and that's provided I get the time to sneek into the shop.
but I finally have the entire truck sanded down with 150 then 320 grit. door jambs, hood jambs, every nook and cranny.. excpt the engine bay. next step is assemblying the make shift paint booth and spraying the primer.
