Ideally looking at a trade for a 100 series (I miss having one!).

I bought this just last year thinking I would love having another FJ in the stable. It needed a few things baselined to get it "road worthy" to my standards so I chipped away at from time to time. After taking it up to the mountains with my kiddo (navigator) she told me she liked our adventures in our old 100 (now in Vancouver) and I should trade this for another one.

What I've done so far:
- I removed the gnarly wheel/tire set up the prior owner had on it (Bald 35" mud tires and 12.5 wide wheels) and put on a brand new set of 5 mud tires I had here at the house.
- I removed the non factory seats that appeared to be out of a 280zx and threw in some sport buckets from Jegs.
- Installed a reproduction rear view mirror.
- Swapped out the plugs/ wires.
- Swapped out the cheap fuel filter with an OEM unit.
- Installed a full soft top kit with full soft doors (zipper windows).
- Just because we all hate the diamond plate and I just had to know, I removed the drivers side to check for rust (there wasn't any) and then reinstalled it. I believe the prior owner did a TON of rust mitigation, possibly a re-tub.

What does it need:
- Turn signals are hit or miss
- Brake booster has a vacuum leak (hissing noise while the brake is not being depressed) but the brakes work fine.
- Transfer case output shaft seal is leaking onto the parking brake drum and the shoes are soaked. Parking brake will not function due to this.
- It does NOT like to start below 50 degrees for some reason (Carb?) but the choke cable is not installed to the throttle body. I have a video from 3 days ago when it was 55 degrees out and she fires RIGHT UP!
- The drivers fender met a rock wall with the prior owner so that should be addressed if it bothers you.

What does it come with:
- 2 sets of wheels. The 5 non factory wheels that are mounted with brand new tires AND a set of factory original wheels with good tires.
- 2 hard doors with glass (one door has a scuff from the prior owner).
- A rear forward facing bench seat should you not like the side facing seats in back.
- 2 bikini tops (one is a full for sure and I think the other is a half)
- A bin FULL of fj40 parts for this rig

I work from home and can show this to you just about anytime but would prefer daytime so you can really poke around. As I mentioned before, I'd love to trade for a 100 but wouldn't turn down a cash offer, I just don't know what that number would be.

That's a nice 40, there's a lot to like about it, especially lack of body rust. The drive train is not original however, a 1971 would have 3 on the tree, and vacuum actuated front drive from the dash, and range shifting from a lever just below the vacuum knob under the dash. The valve cover is from a 2F. Looks like a Weber carb? Webers don't have a manually operated choke, they have an electric choke that opens as it warms up. Any idea of what lift it has?

I respect your opinion knowledge of course have seen some other early 70's FJ's with a 3 speed on the floor recently... I wouldn't think someone would have converted the transmission for a column shit to a floor without putting in the 4 speed option.

I wonder if it was a conversion (seems to be pretty common but again, FJ's are not my strongest knowledge base!) is this a conversion as well?

Floor shift was a common conversion for the three on the tree. As they aged, the three on the tree became harder to shift. A floor conversion fixed that & the kit was like $69 bucks. I used to have the receipt for the job for my LV back in the day.

Bump... had another guy (not from here of course) stand me up yesterday after begging me to cut a Breck trip early. Open to trade offers (running TOYOTA stuff only).
