Took all my skid plates off. I need to make a run back east and I don't think I'll need them on I-80. I also need to try to straighten the passenger front corner, it took a pretty good pop on Blanca Peak a couple of weeks ago. I might need to weld in a doubler too. And a splash of primer.

Front brake service on the LX470.

Broke out the mother of breaker bars the MOBB 5000. Daughter had the truck for a couple years and somebody must of done a NASCAR tire change.

Bothe sides all 10 bolts like they were welded. None broke. When they broke free it was like a gunshot.

By the way the new pins are just rounded heads. Old ones have a Philips like head so you can use a screwdriver to rotate to align for the tiny wire. Just simple smart engineering.

I remember my 60 had all those little wire retainers and rods like that. I just did my wife's 2021 RAV4 yesterday and it has none of those. It just had little sheet metal (spring steel?) clips for each end of the pads and they just kind of pop into the caliper. The other thing is that the rotors float, they aren't fastened to the spindle. They are held by the pads/caliper and then by the wheel when you tighten the lug nuts. The upshot is you lay the caliper with the opening up and slide the rotor into it, then flip the whole thing up and bolt the caliper up. Much easier than the arrangement on my 60 and what it appears on that 470.

Edit: here's a picture:

Time for the Troopy camping set up to get an upgrade. I priced out purchasing one but I don't want to have to sell one of my trucks to fund it so. Time to pull out the sketch pad, saws and brad nailer and get after it. Once done the plan is to have 300AH lithium battery, solar, water with pump and on board air. The tray on the front left is for my fridge and the other boxes will be for equipment, clothes and food. I decided not to go with drawers because it really narrows the aisle way due to the wheel wells and the rounded corners on a troopy. The big gap behind the fridge will be a 34" high set of drawers with a pull out table so we will have a place to eat or surf in bad weather. There will also be a single sized bed on top of the big box on the right with cushions on top. I plan to cover all the exposed wood with a laminate and the Aisle will get some LVP left over from our house.

Should make for a pretty nice rig once the roof is cut and the Alu-Cab pop top is installed.

Cardboard aided design, CAD, plus woodworking is my fave! The stuff is so affordable, it's like it grows on trees.

It's funny how much faster that process is for a lot of projects.

Oh that is for sure! So much more efficient for prototyping and/or one off work. Plus the cardboard templates can be saved & reused later without needed electricity nor an internet connection. If it's good long term, the cardboard can be digitized easily.

Shop, not rig, but in my never ending quest to be organized, I found these spring loaded can holders on Amazon. Bought a pack to test my theory. And I was right! Works great for my paint cans! Pull out the front can and the next moves up automatically. Now to buy more for the rest of the paint and chemical spray cans.
